Howdy guys and gals, kirk here, your favorite exterior plastering professional with a tip about the typical question can we use the traditional rendering systems or must the styrofoam render systems be used to patch walls with refer/stucco over styrofoam.
FYI, Styrofoam as a wall insulation has been combined with stucco for about 70 years, it has been used in Europe, as in the (Dry-Vit system) Europe is and has been the country with the most technology as far as traditional rendering systems and or styrofoam render systems.
Keep in mind folks my son Jason, who is also licensed in Plastering and who films all these stucco video’s helps with all the filmed stucco work, thus, we make all stucco patch’s appear a wee bit easier than the average person who will likely be watching how to repair your own styrofoam or traditional stucco walls, I would say a fella needs at least 10 to 15 years of hands on experience to understand all the different types of render or stucco materials that were necessary in this video alone and how each interacts with one another and lastly, when these type of oner material set, as cement wait for no man unless additives such as retardants and or accelerators are used.
