facts about Cracking in a stucco walls, read below for more reasons.
reasons why stucco cracks

Hello everyone, in this video I am sharing some other reasons on what causes cracks in new and or existing stucco or plaster walls.
Most common, settling if it’s a newly built home, within two months.
It could also be that the plywood and the studs are heating expanding and or twisting.
In hot areas the wall can get to 140 degree’s if the plywood is not gaped for the expansion the heat will expand the wood thereby expanding the stucco, This action can’t be measured by eye, but stucco, and concrete are sort of like glass, they may flex a tiny bit but to much flex they both crack.
To eliminate this theory, look at the sides that rarely get lots of heat and or the all day sunshine to see if this is going on the shady sides as well.
Also did they take the stucco to the ground?
The weep screed should not be buried or embedded by concrete walkways and or driveways.
If you have have heavy windows or doors that when they shut can create vibrations?
A home built on a hill, with lots of heavy traffic.
If it get real hot then get cold at night. Serious temperature changes.
If it’s really hot say 105 degree’s outside does your air conditioner stay on?
Cracks in your foundation clear indication the home is settling, or shifting.
These are the tip of the iceberg of situations that can contribute, plus your contractor might have missed stapling the lath into the studs or could have used short staples.

Thanks for watching and have a fantastic day!

Horizontal cracking on new homes, Multiple Hairline Cracks in Stucco

horizontal cracking on new stucco homes, Cracks caused by plywood

Hello everyone, in this video short video I am explaining expansion of plywood or OSB sheathing, if it placed next to each other which I see 8 out of 10 times on new or existing homes, this will contribute to hairline cracking especially in the summer in areas which get the majority of the heat.
Direct and prolong summer heat expands Plywood and OSB sheathing which cause’s horizontal cracks in stucco walls.
This is only one fact of about 20 that is a factor often in new or existing stucco homes with multiple hairline cracking.
Fear not my friends as this rarely cause’s leaking, as the two layers of paper stay in tact, however it is unsightly to most folks.
As I said in the video when the sun rises it’s on the front of the home which at that stage it’s always cool, but when it gets to be 10 to 11:00 a.m. it’s beating down hard on the wall in question especially in mid summer which has the worst cracking on the home.

Why do stucco walls crack? why stucco cracks?

October 21, 2010 By Stucco Plastering 16 Comments

Why do stucco walls crack? why stucco cracks?

Howdy guys and gals, my daughter Madeleine Giordano videoed me as I explain some of the reasons why this new stucco home has cracked in such a short time.
This type of cracking happens every once in a while.
Please note the roll of tape in my hand is for covering windows. The tape I used to cover the wall on the previously day is called fiber mesh tape mainly used for sheet rock or for the purpose shown in this video. By the way if home owners wanted to just paint this home I could have just used caulking.
To repair cracks takes more time in than most folks realize. For example, in the early morning they are the largest and in the hot sun they are almost invisible.
