FYI, all a person needs for the proper moisture barrier are two layers of building paper, in this video’s we added tyvek as the homeowner requested it but it was not necessary.

Howdy folk, in this video we explain how to tie is stucco lath when a porch is added after the wall was complete. On this home we used tyvek stucco wrap and two ply building paper so it was a bit time consuming, but nothing any stucco person can’t handle.

Hi guys, this video explains, why we lifted the existing DuPont Tyvek house wrap and exposed the CDX plywood in order to install two layers of building paper under it, next we attached 17 gauge Davis stucco netting to the walls to prepare them for lath inspection. All of our lathing must be current to plastering code standards. Our scratch coat and brown coat will be applied after this the inspection.
Apply Jumbo Tex weather barrier paper under the existing tyvek membrane to waterproof my home.

Two ply paper lath over Tyvek house wrap, lathing information

Hello everyone, we used two ply paper to lath over Tyvek house wrap, this means 2 layer spot glued so they stay together for my weather resistive barrier. Its function is to prevent water from contacting the plywood sheathing and studs. Wet wood will rot while metal will rust. Therefore both must be kept dry. No one wants to deal with mold or mildew
The idea with 2 layer is that 2 layers offers a built in drainage plane for the wall system. So water can escape.
Another reason is if the outer layer fails you still have the inner layer. Plus 2 layers is just as easy to apply because it’s spot glued and won’t separate as you staple it up.

Defective stucco moisture barrier can cause water intrusion in walls, which leads to mold.
