Stucco Samples or stucco finishes

August 28, 2013 By Stucco Plastering Leave a Comment

Stucco Samples or stucco finishes.
Samples of sand finishes, samples of steel trowel finishes, samples of float finishes, stucco samples of every kind.

I did part one with this video. As folks asked at the end, I showed and explained what applying a smooth trowel stucco fish was in this one and why a third coat should be used for smooth or steel trowel finishes.

In this video, I simply added a third coat, “a finish coat,” to further explain that a steel-troweled two-coat stucco system can and will usually hairline as we are sealing the stucco.

Thus it can’t breathe. Then when the sun hits the walls, it swells the plywood and causes expansion, causing the stucco to the hairline.

This standard action has nothing to do with the stucco hairline cracking.
Instead, an element such as the sun heating the wood substrate under the stucco creates this condition. Why? Aging, when wood heats it, swells; like a pufferfish that thinks there’s danger.😉

When smooth finishes are requested, we apply both coats of stucco, then hydrate to cause swelling then shrinkage.
Then after a month, the third coat is applied, reducing the chance of further hairline cracks with the finished stucco.

Notice I said, reducing or lessening the chance. All steel-troweled stucco finishes have a much higher chance of hairlines than any other stucco finish.
Now you know.😉

Howdy, friends, if you need to see what kind of sample for texture or stucco finish coats, you have come to the right place.

Stucco samples are endless. I’m just showing some of the most requested textures and of finishes.
You can also have stucco samples with colored finishes.
You can have stucco samples with indentations.
You can have a stucco sample of dash finishes.
You can have stucco samples of textures of finishes that are just within your own imagination,
as there are hundreds of stucco finishes and or textures. It’s an endless quest.

Plaster over interior concrete and or drywall, drywall compound uses

Plaster over interior concrete and or drywall, drywall compound uses

Howdy everyone, on this interior garage wall we show how to plaster over interior concrete and or drywall, using a drywall compound.

In this video I am using a drywall compound, however you can use
Structo-lite then come back with a taping mud or plaster finish.
Or you can use Imperial or Diamond basecoat plaster with a diamond or imperial veneer plaster finish or you can even apply an exterior stucco then finish with taping mud or plaster.
You can even apply 3 to 4 coats of taping mud waiting at least 24 hours between coats until you finally get the proper thickness.
I have done this type of repair even more ways than these above mentioned but hopefully you get the idea.

How to repair styrofoam trim, simple styrofoam repairs

Hi everyone. Here I am showing a simple fix to some Styrofoam details surrounding this garage door. We first determine the grit of the sand and mix to consistency for stucco application, then apply bonding agent (weld Crete) to hole and area surrounding the hole, we then add luminite as our accelerator to the mixed stucco, and finally apply our mixed stucco to chipped Styrofoam. Lastly we float this coat to give the same texture as the original finish.
