stucco over stud walls, plaster over stud walls

stucco over stud walls, plaster over stud walls

Howdy guys and gals, in this video I applied the BMI stucco base coat (scratch and brown coat) on an area that was lathed but did not have a sheer backing. (This is the most difficult of base coat application to apply both coats on the same day) as you lose a lot of stucco in the field. (Between studs)
The plaster which is traditionally 7/8 thick tends to be about inch and one half, (between studs) I did this primarily just to see how well it would hang under the most extreme sheer conditions.
A week later I returned to witness absolutely no hairline cracks, (at all) this is rare to me with same day stucco base coat even over a sheer wall backing let alone no sheer wall. I have to say I am impressed with BMI products.

Waterproofing a brick or block chimney next to a stucco wall

Waterproofing a brick or block chimney next to a stucco wall

Howdy guys and gals, in this video I explain the best way to water tight a brick chimney next to a stucco wall. I spent about an hour clearing out all the old existing stucco pieces. Next the paper was shoved in as far as possible, then we filled the large crack with a quality caulking.
Remember don’t buy the cheap caulking or try to use the smallest amount of caulking. If you do it may leak and cost you 100 times the amount you would have spent for several quality tubes of great caulking.

Acrylics applications

Acrylics applications

Hello everyone, first off all the acrylic turned out great, however the video didn’t come out as well as we hoped. Sound is a bit odd at times (lot of interference from satellite antennas, I think) and the walls were a bit too close up to actually show well how many completely different textures there actually were. (Very course to very fine finishes) The idea was to level out the walls. Soften the heavy textures while giving the fine finished walls a bit more. We did this without having to apply a skim coat of stucco cement, prior. Final results are what are really important. The home owner called a couple days later and said the home came out fabulous. That’s what we are mainly trying to achieve, the video is second fiddle compared to this compliment.
How to hide bad stucco textures with a hand applied stucco color finish.
