contractor trust for repairs when you are not home, plaster flashing details
In this video, I titled it, should a homeowner trust their contractor for repairs when they’re not home? BTW, we’re showing plaster flashing details.
I titled it trust in contactors because I often hear for inside work. Sorry, I won’t be home that day, a good thing I stick to the exteriors.
As a rule, homeowners should trust the person they hired, Why, because the average person should have morals, ethics, and integrity. These good qualities all should be born with. Unfortunately, many become avaricious and fall into “the dark side like in the Star Wars” franchise.
But the fact is, you leave home, your contractor does less than quality work, tell them you’re not happy if it’s obvious, or refuse to pay.
In my 30 plus years, I have completed hundreds of repairs while homeowners were at work themselves.
Together, my son and I have unconsciously created the most comprehensive encyclopedia of Stucco and Plastering videos ever produced online globally for your inspiration, entertainment, and education. We wish to bring peace, love, and brotherhood back into plastering.

Kirk, I always thought a decent business would be to set up camera's in the home while the contractors on site and send the feed to the customer so they can check in on them. You'd also have video documentation of the work being done and would have evidence for either the contractors warranty or the manufactures. Kind of like a baby sitter monitor, but for contractors. I also have to say, I learn a lot with your videos, thanks
@avisitorhere Ha! Good luck with that. Maybe someone naive enough would fall for such a scam. I am curious, might you be from India? Ha!
Greetings my friend, I have thought of a camera, but I would personally feel a bit wierd watching people without their knowledge, even for home security, I have a Louisville baseball slugger propped against my wall, I prefer that to a camera, it just seems more manly.
I'll take that to a fella with a knife any day, now a gun, no doubt I'd be robbed.
I am a martial arts nunchucks expert but still choose a bat.

That is a ridiculous idea. If u have to do that then u hired the wrong guy. The problem we find is people go for the cheapest price then wonder why the job isn't up to scratch. My boss always says if u get a few prices and theres a huge difference in prices it's not because u getting ripped of its because the good builder may have seen something needing done that the other guy hasn't or the fact that u going to get a half passed job. The old saying u get what u pay for springs to mind.
My boss never advertised and all the work is picked up threw word of mouth and his name alone. Yes he might have higher rates but that's because he works harder and takes his time over it.
Contractors get a bad name but some of the clients are unbelievable. They expect everything for nothing. They can be a massive headache. Also if they hanging about watching your every move we simply tell them to fuck off (,in a nice way) and leave us to it. Also clients google a couple things then question us the next day as if there experts. Then when its time to pay some will try hold back as long as possible, they try to take bits if for this and that and 1 time a guy wanted us to clean his organs as it we were waiting for blocks to get delivered. He thought since he was paying us that he could tell us to do his shitty jobs in the garden. Saying that tho most clients are fine and get the tea out for us. They leave us alone and we get on with it. It's the same with builders. Most aren't there to rip u of and most are honest. Yes some are a lot better than others but that's for u to choose who u want.
@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. I'm with u on the baseball bat Kirk. A lot better than most other weapons. Although here in Scotland theres not so much bats lying around but a good 7iron golf club is very effective aswell. I noticed I never had the bell turned on for all notifications but I sorted that out asap. Catch u on the nxt 1
I use sika product too, good stuff. Great vid Kirk and the Fam

@YoYO SemiteSemite, you hit the nail on the head, I just deleted this asshole from our channel.
he has nothing worth hearing, just another troll. Out of 80,000 subscribes only one out of 300 is such a loser, jealousy is usually the reason, very few are too busy criticizing others when that same time could be used for constructive purposes.
It's best to allow the trolls to wonder from under a bride to a septic tank and live out their days with the rats that have become.
Kirk got any videos of you doing large lids, working above your head. How do you deal with the strain on the muscles?
Howdy Mendoza, yes type in how to plaster ceilings, we have at least 20, I find if a ceiling set properly where you reach about a foot overhead, it's as easy as applying over walls, I'm 60 and have been doing this trade for 40 years, my arms and shoulder sometimes get tired, but rarely hurt as in an injury.
Do as I tought all 5 of my kids, when the swelling or pain get so tense that you feel you can no longer lift your arm, STOP. But do something else constructive on the same job until that beautiful swelling goes down. once down, start again and repeat as often as necessary.
Arms or shoulder muscles have to be earned or built up with much common sense.

Love that you have every material for the job and don't have to leave. So professional!
Howdy Stewart, in over 30 years I have had to leave about once every 100 repairs.
I mentioned this on this video as I had workmen at my home that was being paid by the hour, honestly, they spent more time at the hardware stores than doing their hired repair.
As a favor to them, I explained I would never use or recommend them to anyone as they were ignorant fools who didn't realize what time they wasted and the aggravation they placed on paying customers.

The previous contractor I hired was constantly ferrying gravel from the landscape center to build a retaining wall and french drain. They were cutting corners and not doing what we agreed on. Then they disappeared for a week. I told them this isn't working and that I'll compensate them for half of the cost of the project and that they gotta leave. They were furious and lingered outside my house until I agreed to pay them the full amount of the project. I felt like I was robbed.
Morning Jaze, it sounds like you beat up a bit.But not as bad as what two Hawaiian judges did to rob my family and me of three properties.I lost over a million by their corruption. Can you do a video on what happened with that situation? would love to hear about it unless it brings back too many bad memoriesIm getting ready to stone veneer a shed, wondering about how to flash the bottom where the plywood wall/sill sits on slab, should I just fast flash under and over a piece of z flashing or just fast flash under the tar paper? Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us.
