Great stuff Kirk…you are a wealth of info..Nice to see a proper tradesman in action….
@skopskiet Thank you, I have been in this trade for about to 30 years now, and really enjoy my trade. Also, guys like me learn to do it right the first time or repair it the second time as a learning experience.
Have a groovy morning.

Hi Kirk….Love the video.. Go a question regarding chimney repair. I have a very large chimney with 50 year old fancy face bricks that are failing. The faces are coming off and deteriorating behind them. Replacement would cost a mint due to its sheer size so Im looking to cover either with a stucco or build a wooden enclosure. Do you have any suggestions in this regard? Thanks
@Buzard9696 Hey guy, if you build a wooded structure around this chimney it will look weird. Call at least 3 maybe more brick guys ask for a price to re-grout this chimney. You may be surprised it’s affordability. Same with me, folks may think I can’t afford Kirk, but find out I am cheaper than non-licensed guys because I know what I am doing and enjoy it. Of course you can skim coat the chimney too. Your job is to find a craftsman. Best wishes and have a groovy day!

@mjnathan888 Hi mjnathan, Great tip for removal of the lye from wood. I have applied oxalic to my own decks and power washed it off to renew them. But at work and while I am on a client’s home, I prefer to cover all wood especially redwood if I have to apply stucco. Thanks for the tip.
Have a great evening,

this is the 3rd vid ive seen where i didnt get to see the actual application of the render… i like to learn how its done in other areas or in this case other countries as im from Perth Australia so these vids are awesome, but it seems to skip the part im looking forward to the most! :]
Hi Adam, I had to watch to see what you were referring to. Sorry bro, we do try and get most of the stucco details in each video. But sometimes we get so preoccupied with the take at hand, that we miss key tips in these videos. Thanks for the tip.
Have a great day!

oxalic acid works on Tannin "from tanic acid" strains on any kind off wood. The main thing You must do is square up and or do the whole flat.
Hey Pal, thanks for the updated tip.
Have a groovy day!

Hey paddy, like all trades it just takes practice. Of course if you happen to get pleasure out of work as I do, that’s a big help!
Thanks for the bone.

Hey Turbo dude, Thank you.
I’m old school where back in the day as well as today, if a project is not done right a fella should be morally obligated to repair their own fix at no cost, just because it’s the right thing to do.
And, yes, I have made my share of mistakes.
Thanks again for the bone, and have a great day!

Howdy Hobby dude,
On new houses a color cat will adhere to a brown coat by suction.
A brown coat will adhere to a scratch coat in the same way.
On this project, I didn’t want to risk the chance on the stucco not adhering well because of dust, dirt, grime or mold, so I almost always use a bonding agent to be on the safe side.
Thanks for watching and have a great day!

Miguel sounds like an illiterate derelict. I would normally never comment like this but as Ive been trying to get some ideas for a chimney repair, 'douchebags' misspelled comments continue to arise. He apparently doesn't know there is more than one way to skin a cat. "The real plasterers are mexicans". REALLY? Are you some high school punk that thinks he has the world by the balls? Keep your uneducated, non tax paying, border jumping, menudo sipping thoughts to yourself. My right hand man is Mex.
Howdy Scott, He does come off as sounding a bit goofy.
No worries, I’ve been yelled at enough times in my life to not sweat the small stuff.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Just putting this out there Kirk. The point of a You tube DIY video is to show people how it"s done not to fast forward through the actual process itself to show us what you are capable of. This particular video is considered SPAM Kirk why not just put an ad out in the paper and pay for advertising like anybody else. Either that or at least show us how it's done, it's the ethical thing to do when using public media like You Tube or Facebook to advertise.
Fair enough wattch, I agree. We have over 350 of these how to videos some are better than others and sometime I miss a technique or two. The last hundred or so we now use a mike and try to be very informative.
Jason, also yells at me if I am about to leave out a step.
Thanks for the kick in the ass.
Best wishes and have a good weekend!

I can't find weld crete locally is there anything you recommend that they sell in Home depot or lowes or ace?
Good evening Evermont King,
Home Depot and Lowes sells SikaLatex Bonding Adhesive and Acrylic Fortifier, Lowes sells QUIKRETE Bonding Adhesive. Just buy the amount you need as it comes in lot of sizes. Both are excellent products.
Best wishes and have a great day!

Love the details and tips that you explain, even going as far as showing us how to wet the sponge properly. You're a great teacher Kirk.
Hey Joey, thank you, this is one of my earlier videos, we go into more details nowadays as the response we receive ask for more.
On this I missed the application part, and got yelled at a few times for it.
Thanks for watching and have a great day!

@Michael F no worries brother, Cheers! kirk giordano plastering
Yeah your tips help me out a whole lot I finished my job in 3 hours today rendering a wall 3 feet high 15 feet long with two layers of cement! Thanx again
just to be certain, do you always have to apply the fixative to the brickwork? what would be the outcome if you skipped that part? I'm currently learning some stucco in the hopes i can fix an old Hungarian house, its a real mess with various bricks and cements patched up over the years.. just wish i had your mix of mud, hard to get the right ready mixed stuff out here.. cheers, enjoying your videos..
Good Morning Sam Dude, yes, as often the brick may have some dust on them after we wire brush and wash them, the bonding agent keeps the stucco attached forever, our cement is just sand and Portland, it does take the same time in to learn how to mix properly, FYI, we use 3 parts sand to every 1 part portland.
