I was wondering what is the best that would work for art type work….the stuff I get at big box stores cracks.
Hi Sislertx, if you're going to paint a wall with pictures, why not go with the best, Diamond veneer finish plaster, if done properly it's the smoothest and the strongest plaster finish.
Best wishes,

@Kirk & Jason Giordano's DIY plastering and stucco network actually I am wanting to.sculpt on a wall…sort of like put vines and leaves…
Hi Sislertx, why not just skim with a 20 minute mud and use one of these roller's for your pattern? See the video below.
If you want to make decorations by hand use plaster of paris, the same plaster which body casts are made from.

Just wondering I am on the east coast and the spacklers my company uses use durabond for a base coat on the lath when patching plaster. I've never seen it on your videos and was wondering if you guys use it?
HI brad goose, yes, we have used durabond, personally I can't tell the difference when applying this compound to say West-pac's or any other companies drywall compound.
These drywall compounds are made by many different companies, to me they seam made with possibly the same materials.

Hi Kirk and Jason! I'm following up on the idea of coloring Diamond Veneer plaster. What sort of store would carry the colorants? Are these powders or liquids and how much roughly to add. Say you have a 50 lb. bag of diamond veneer and you want to make a basic beige or cream? Fantastic information, guys. I'm putting up blue board in a couple weeks and going with an imperial base and diamond veneer finish (hopefully colored). I could not do this without your help. Have a great rest of your weekend, Matt in Portland, OR
Hi Matt Delay, good question, I have had architects hand me small vials saying fill these with color add this to a certain amount of diamond (quart, gollon half a bag and so on) to folks saying add this powder or paint to a bag of color, their are many choices which all work. I've experience with many methods, I believe the colored powder which can come from Westside building materials or home depot that is used for color coats the easiest.best wishes,Kirk & Jason Giordano’s DIY plastering and stucco instructional videos
@Kirk & Jason Giordano’s DIY plastering and stucco instructional videos and forum Evening, Kirk. Would cement/stucco color powders work for tinting diamond veneer? There's a mason supply store near me that carries cement colors, I think they're called Davis Colors. Have a great week ahead! Matt in Portland, OR
Evening Matt Delay, absolutely, good luck with the colors, luck is the residue of practice. Cheers,Kirk & Jason Giordano’s DIY plastering and stucco instructional videos and forum

You forgot the plaster that comes in a box.
Greetings Juan, as a rule, we dont use plaster of Paris, many do use it for small patches, however, doctors do use it for cast setting to heal broken bones. Cheers, Sound Plastering tips from your favorite stucco geeks
Hey Jason like video but next. Time try not to set them in water under drop cloth. That mud isn't worth putting back in truck for later…
Greetings Jamie, great tip brother. Cheers, Sound Plastering tips from your favorite stucco geeks
