I can still see a long indentation. You should have put on another lite coat before floating it .Your dash coat is a little heavy. With a little training ,you will be ready to make a video/stucco repair worth looking at !!!
Good eye brother, I did get that horizontal line out before the day was over. It was a cold day and mud was mixed a bit wet, nothing thing we couldn’t handle but I had to give it time to set. Have a great day!

Hiya Kirk, i got a bizzare question for ya if you wouldn't mind indulging me. We bought a home that lovely 70's faux stone that looks like a flintstones reunion went really wrong. Well we want to remove the stone and then stucco it up again to match the house. We were wondering if we remove all the stone from the existing mortar work, can we just layer Stucco on top of it if we scored keys into it. If not do we need to strip it to the wire @ the studs?
Hey oafmeal, great question. I have done quite a bit of work prior to the guys who set stone. That means I just apply a scratch coat over the lath. Stone guys apply their mortar on the backs of stone and attach them like that. They will probably be difficult to come off, but you may get away without having to redo the lath if you take your time and have good tools. If the lath is compromised then you will have to redo it.
Have a great evening.

Wont it just buckle again in the future if you don't go ahead and install the weep screen thing you mentioned?
Good evening Rawjourneyman,
Excellent question, all stucco and concrete can and most times does crack, from hairline to structural cracks.
Drip screed were no mandatory until I think 1976 many people didn’t start using them until 1980, they help, but even with a screed the stucco can still crack.

Thank you,I was getting buckling like that and I thought I should use a diamond blade on a grinder but that would be terribly dusty.I noticed it came off with the hammer but didn't think to score it ,my brick hammer might be better if I can find it!Anyway thanks again Kirk.
Good evening truth dude, no worries.
