Caulking Foundation settling cracks then adding stucco to match the existing finish.
Hello, all were explaining how to apply caulking stucco walls hairline cracks. Enjoy.
FYI, folks, as I mentioned in this video, once the loose stucco is removed, the stucco crack is cleaned well.
If you apply or fill that foundation crack up with Sika-a Flex polyurethane adhesive sealant, the foundation can still flex because of the rubber expansion joint called Sika-A Flex.
I don’t believe there is stronger caulking that adheres to porous things such as bricks or blocks as concrete back together sold in the United States.
But remember all, nothing adheres to a dusty or dirty surface not this caulking or even cobwebs.
Sikaflex 1a Kit – One Component, Flexible, Non Sag, Polyurethane Concrete and Masonry Sealant, I’ve been using this caulking for over 30 years because it never fails me.
Just don’t get any of this sticky strong nasty stuff on your hands. I wear my stucco gloves when using it, myself.
Cracking stucco walls are due to” Thermal Expansion.” That’s expansion and constriction, and yes, it’s not only common but normal.

Bonus, two videos posted on the same day. Hope now that spring is upon us we can see more videos, it’s always enjoyable to watch craftsmen do their job. Being in the northeast, I’m so tired of winter already. Have a very prosperous year.
Howdy Clint dude, winter sucks.
We are finally getting some beautiful warm weather in my area. It's been a long wet and cold winter where I'm at. Nothing like snow but colder and wetter than average.

I know the settlement may have already moved as far as it will go, but just in case I would have put a soft polyurethane joint between the slab and the stucco.
Howdy, my friend, I used that same caulking in the joint, then covered with stucco as it will give better flexibility.

@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. Got it!
Hey Kirk another great video! I sent you an email question on using sikaflex on a patio seam and just wondering if you received it. Sent to kirkgiordano@gmail.com
Thanks!
Howdy Rain dude, not yet, but if it's in regards to using Sikaflex anywhere, it is a super strong adhesive sealant, but not to great in appearance unless you use some thinner to wipe clean if it going to show.

That is the best use of old catchers gear I’ve ever seen in my life. Genius. Seriously
Howdy Oskar, these catchers kneepads are really comfortable, I sometimes forget I'm wearing them.
Most regular kee pads cut my circulation off or slide down, once a person tries these he will throw away all their other knee pads.

Are those catcher’s knee and shin guards?
Catcher knee guards. He says he finds them way more comfortable
Ezequiel Brilliant idea. I need to work in the tight crawl space in my house. I’m going to get some.

Hey Kirk, love your videos. I have a roughcast finish and it has cracked and come away at the corners of the windows, roughly 8×3 inch piece has come away. movement I guess. What do you suggest as a fix? Thanks.
Hi Jason, sound like a quick fix, buy a ten-pound box of Rapid set stucco, mix and apply.
FYI, clean the area first apply a bonding agent too.

You mentioned all the rain, just thought i would tell you. There was a lake in Death Valley of course they said it will evaporate but isn't that a terrible sign of whats coming. Unless that ice shelf starts reversing I think the world is going to have to start building on stilts.
Good afternoon Thomas, Stilts it is.

Hey kirk. How long would you give the mix before floating it if it was without any accelerant material in it? I am asking for this kind of wheather. But would love youe input on a sunny day condition as well.
Also. Even with accelerants, how do you know the rain won't ruin your entire work?
Morning Kundason, the average set time would have been 30 minutes, I floated imeadeatly as Jason was filming and it's too much hassle to wait then start again filming.
We didn't expect any rain for the rest of that day either or I would not have done the repair, It's always a drag when you have to worries about rain.

Hey Kirk, thank you for all the informative vids. Great work! I have a very similar project I’m working on which will require a couple coats of stucco in order to build it up to reach the top stucco layer. Should I be using the bonding agent in between coats? First coat went on today, plan on finishing tomorrow. I’m using Rapid Set brand Stucco Patch. Thanks again.
Howdy Craig, no another bonding agent isn't necessary.
The next coat will adhere to the first one by a normal mechanical bond,
This is where a cementitious coat of stucco is applied over the first one, TIP, mist the first coat with water or the second one may not adhere well.

Ive gotten in a habit of using tile thinset mixed with some water and a couple cups of arcylic paint .and that does a pretty decent "plaster ish" goop.
Evening John, whats the paint for? Color? It would be time-consuming to get the right color desired unless hours spent on a formula, plus it's different when wet than when it dries.
Like a brick when wet, it's dark when dryer conditions return. It's much lighter. Excellent idea, BTW.

Do you wait for the concrete adhesive to dry before plastering over it, or can you plaster before it fully dries?
Evening Kane, excellent question. It can, of course, be dry, but also tacky, depending on the weather and substrate. it can dry in 5 minutes to a half-hour.
