Apply Jumbo Tex weather barrier paper over existing DuPont Tyvek Stucco Wrap.
Hi guys, this video explains, why we lifted the existing DuPont Tyvek house wrap and exposed the CDX plywood in order to install two layers of building paper under it, next we attached 17 gauge Davis stucco netting to the walls to prepare them for lath inspection. All of our lathing must be current to plastering code standards. Our scratch coat and brown coat will be applied after this the inspection.

Hello Kirk, thanks for the instructional videos, they're great. I have been parging foundation for quite some time now and have decided thatI would like to also install stucco siding as well. My question is, if I came across a house with horizontal shiplap wood siding, would I have to install a skin of plywood over the entire wall surface to make it all smooth or could I just go ahead and double felt paper and wire lath directly over the wood siding and then install my 3 coat stucco system.
Hi Shawn, I have gone over single, double and triple ship lap siding many times. When you lath you might tear the paper in some areas as it tends to be hollow in on the low spots, caulk these holes if you make them.
Also, check with your city inspector as I don’t know codes for each city.
It will require some skill lathing and plastering as the windows, doors and bottoms tend to be out of alignment with some trims.
Best wishes,

Dear Kirk you’ve probably answered this a thousand times but how do you prep your wall if theres an inch and a half wide electrical piping running the 16 ft length of your wall. Basically right smack dab in the middle. Guess i’ll uncrew the clips and do as much surface prep as per your usual and then reattach them through the lath. It’s a sort of rigid soft plastic it feels like. The light gray variety. I don’t think the solar guy will mind if it’s cemented in place.
Evening Edward. Depends, if it's attached directly on a wall with no gap, one can choose to cover it, as a rule, if you ever need to get into this pipe it's best to paper under it, loosen it and pull out at least one inch from the wall and not embed or cover it. I know that polyurethane caulking is all that's needed around those vents but for cosmetic reasons would you ever case out the vents with 5/8 or 7/8 plaster stop?
