Happy holidays to all. In this video, my pal Nathan was helping me plaster these walls. Nathan comes from a long line of plasterers. His dad owned a plastering company for over 40 years.
Anyway, When Nathan works with anyone at break or lunchtime, he often pulls out his guitar and plays songs but favors one called “Tennessee Whiskey.” which is his favorite.
How cool is the guy playing it? He got 20 million views on that cool song alone.
-https://youtu.be/IBLruNfUqUs/Nathan even sounds like the guy singing it.

When I got to this job, Nathan Jae Humphries, BTW his email is natehumphries@yahoo.com/
was sitting in the backyard lawn chairs playing his guitar. His info is here if someone says, hey, I need a plasterer in Vacaville, Ca. Area or a man to create a catchy Guitar jingle for anything.

I said, man, “you need to be covering the ground and windows.”
Nathan laughed and said, Dude, ”I’m not on the clock yet. Besides, I’m making you a jingle for your business, I replied. What do you mean? Nathan said, sit down and listen to this.
I did and laughed the rest of the day as I thought it was goofy with a country twang, and said so in the video.
When I did, Nathan replied, If it’s so corny, “why do you keep singling it?“
I laughed even more as I thought, man. Ouch, very ouch, as he got me there, so after work, when we got to my house, I suggested after we got cleaned up, “How about playing that jingle again, but this time with the guitar and give it a country twang voice you have?”
Nathan said, No problemo.
My brother Luuuu is in back of us just to scare the neighbors away. Big Luu, “my older brother,” worked his arse’s off this day as we applied over a yard of sand with about 10 bags of cement plaster that Luuuu mixed then brought to us.
Luu may not be able to walk well as he broke three bones in his foot, but he is still sho-nuff capable of “hod work” as he is, by definition, is a “hod Carrier.” Or what is also referred to as a plaster tender.
This video was at first for the sole purpose of answering my Russian and fellow comrade, who is also a plasterer.
About getting windows true and plumb instead of wiggly.

@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. I will do that Kirk! I'm just about to launch off into my second stucco project, popping off some fake rocks and stuccoing over the 'scratch' coat underneath the rocks. I'm sure I'll have a question once I get the fake rocks off the stucco and the brick chimney although from watching your vids for several months now I think I have a pretty good idea how to do it. thanks.

Thank you for the great videos Kirk. I've learned a lot by watching you. I'm currently having my 1922 Spanish style bungalow home redone from the outside, reframing, and new plywood, lathe, and stucco. My house design is very square with clean lines/corners. I've noticed that the guy working on my house did a so so scratch coat job. It's not totally plumb in a lot of areas and pieces of the scratch coat crumble. If the brown coat were applied would that correct the imperfections? My house will have a smooth white coat finish.
    Thank you,
    David from Long Beach, CA

      December 29, 2020 at 3:40 am

Howdy David, the scratch coat is simply to embed the stucco netting. It does not have to be pretty. In fact, it can be applied ugly.
With a smooth finish, the next coat is important, as the home will now have to be rodded true and level.
As far as a crumbling scratch coat, when one uses a Scarifier/Scratcher, it does make many valleys and mountains.
The tips of the so-called mountains/high points tend to be soft in some areas. For example, if you rub your hand against it hard, some of the sand mixed in with the Portland cement will rub off. This is normal.
The brown coat will cover any imperfections.
Here’s wishing you and yours a happy holiday season.

We are getto g ready to renovate our kitchen of our 1927 house. The house ois stone with stucco over it and in so e areas the stucco has cracked and is allowing water to come in this messing with our Interior plaster walls. Prior to the re ovation I would like to fix these problems on the outside. I have watched a number of your videos and have learned a lot already, but wanted to make sure I get the job do e the first time! What product should I use to patch the stucco? Some of the areas are over window frames, is three anything different I need to do with those? As a quick fix I spayed foam to cover areas to get us through a storm, and then a couple years later came and I need to fix it….can I cut out the spray foam to under flush and out my finnish over it? Or should I dig out all of it and start from scratch? Thanks for all of your help! I look forward to hearing from you. If there is any way to attach pictures do you can see please let me know.
