Waterproofing with Metal Saddles

Howdy everyone. In this video we are showing you folks how, and when to use metal saddles to waterproof intricate roof-to-wall areas or other spots like parapit caps on roofs.

This is not likely something most homeowners will encounter, and fabrication of these units should absolutely be left to the professionals. Luckily this general contractor had a great sheet metal guy, and these flashing turned out perfect.

Many folks often try to cheap out and skip using these, opting instead to caulk the areas or use a peel and stick membrane. These can work in the short term, but for the longest lasting build we recommend using these style saddles. This will save you serious dough in the long run by protecting important areas from water intrusion which can lead to wood rot and numerous other problems.

Remember: You get what you pay for!

Good day to all our over 100,000 subscribers on Youtube, and the average homeowner, DIYer, or weekend plastering warrior who happens to stumble on this ‘how to plaster video.’ Our channel has more than 40 million views for a good reason. We explain stucco and cement plastering clearly so that even my “great-grandma” can understand.

By the way, folks my pal, Jake Johnson is located in Vacaville, CA. Jake is also a licensed plastering contractor who I have had the honor of working with for many years. Jake has helped me with many jobs in the last 15 years. All wishing estimates for plastering work in his area, please call him at 707-660-1422. Like many of us, Jake had his plastering license, does he today during COVID times? I don’t know. I do know he is great at both stucco and plastering installations as I have worked with him for many years. Jake like my son is the future of plastering repairs – me, I’m no spring chicken.
