FYI, homeowners, this video shows how I re-surfaced the top of this concrete. I used Poly Bond. However, there is a simplified version from Home Depot and or Lowes.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Quikrete-10-lb-Vinyl-Concrete-Patch-Repair-113311/100318504
The material I used is not sold at either of these stores but only plastering yards as it is specifically engineered to attach styrofoam to base coated walls.
Thus I recommend you purchase the Quickrete for your repairs.
Also, folks can google concrete resurfacing products, which can be purchased at HD and or Lowes.

Will this be a permanent fix? Of course not.
It’s best folks pay the one or two thousand to cut out the new Rebar set with Dobies as enforcement and repast with concrete.
However, not all folk’s have the cash to do this. I changed 300 dollars for this temporary fix, that who knows, may last a lifetime, but doubtful.🤔

I want to repair some spots (new cables and outlets) in my wall. It has a lime cement plaster with, I think, a plaster surface. I want to use plaster for it. Would you recommend it and should I prime the wall or is pre-wetting enough?

      March 14, 2020 at 11:25 pm

Evening Majin, if they are just cable holes you can simply caulk them.
Another way is to use some real lime plaster or if inside use Diamond finish, it's foolish to buy a bag or base coat and finish coat if you just need some holes plugged.
You can buy Diamond veneer finish at westside building materials in Oakland. Diamond is a mixture of limestone and gypsum.

I'm just a homeowner; I go to the material yards all the time. I just tell him cash sale, generally use my credit card or cash. ( I think they prefer the credit card actually over cash) ie a bag of Portland is $11 at The Big Box store I'll pay 8 at the material yard. and they load it right in your truck no hassle you're in and out usually quicker, much more convenient than the big box. I'm not sure what a contractor pays but I just saved $3

thus, "I recommend Rapid Set Concrete Leveler," or Sakrete, it’s a fast setting leveling resurfacer or at Home Depot, Quikrete concrete leveler, these are user friendly.

It might be better to have a drain guy to do a cameria inspection of that storm drain. There may a hole in the pipe that is pushing the sub dirt from under the pavement. Also they can have a foam guy lift the slab up.

@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. Great video Kirk. We had a residential client with a similar problem.
A replacement sanitary drain was laid under their drive about 20 years ago.
The contractor back then filled with soil; not stone or rock around the pipe.
When it rains, the storm water runs along the drive, up to an expansion joint
at the pipe location, and then disappears in the joint. This had caused the slab to settle about
3 inches. A concrete leveling firm pumped 5 yards of their pressure grout
into the void under the slab and raised it to the level of the rest of the drive.
Owner asked me what else to do? I suggested he use an elastic urethane
to seal the expansions joints. That seemed to solve the problem.
The key to this is to avoid water influx under any slab or concrete horizontal
surface as it will eventually scour and cause damage.

@pensive69 Great advice, when they get the dough this is an option. They have checked out the cost from contractors to remove and repour, I have heard of Companies doing what you have done, It's definitely a more cost-effective approach.

One of the best instructional you have ever produced guys.
I think I know why the water part is such a recurring issue.
Most of us do it yourself guys, never used a power washer, not to mention a gas powered one.
So ..for me at least, it want obvious just how much important it is to make sure the old concrete is not just damp.. but wet inside as well, for a good mechanical bond. But I do have a tip for those without a notion as to how to damp the old surface.

Get an old bedsheet even. Cover the surface with it and drench it with water. And let it hang there for an hour, while making sure it’s always drenched with water.
    That should do it.
Also..another tip for good bonding is first brush the surface with a water thinned cement ..simple one. Like a. Painting texture.
As cement is basically a sort of adhesive ..combining it with water like that will connect the two layers.. old and new ..better.
Just make sure that the brushed cement is still at least damp when you apply the top layer of concrete. If it’s dry then you need to wet it again

good advice. I also rigged a wire brush myself so I could mount it on a jigsaw . Pretty funny.
Will an acid wash . Like 30% acid, do the trick as well? That is.. if you ever heard of it

I was able to seal a whole I had i my wall and water proof my basement . After that I painted my stucco walls in the my yard with Sherwin Williams Loxon xp Water proofing Masonry Coating. I trying to send you a picture but I have trouble sending it to you . I even build a small garden wall for my yard .
I really help again its about cement and know you don't cement . But know you know this question . I three cement cracks blocks in my yard . Two are medium size and the other is half of one block . I don't want to pull them out . I just want to go over them and fill them up with cement . My question is ? I been told not to mix Grade Quikrete with Hydraulic with Commercial Grade Quikrete Mason Mix Type & Mortar . I was told it will crack ? Is this true ? I didn't have enough to fill the whole and have to get more and it did get hairline cracks . I tried very hard to do this and wasn't easy for me but I am not giving up . Please help me and suggest to me what I am doing wrong ? I will try and send pictures . I Proud of my self the yard looks nice . But I want to do the cement blocks before it gets too cold . But I will use polybond in another job to see is it worth to use it instead of grinding ?

Hi Kirk! Thanks for sharing. Is it LaHabra Poly-Bond that you are using? I want to try that stuff. Here in Canada, frost & de-icing salt are the most harmful things to cement or stucco. Maybe that cimenticious adhesive can keep water from getting between layers. You would not like it here in winter. 😉 Great video, stay safe.
