Stucco/Plastering acrylic products other uses like applying around a swimming pool,
these acrylic stucco’s also can be applied over a driveway. However, the driveway must be pressure washed well. This means no gas or oil residues or the product won’t last 6 months,
FYI, this product is specifically engineered to be applied over stucco born coats.
There is never a concern or grease, oil or gas on walls, dust, and dirt maybe, but this too would need to be clean off for any acrylic stucco to adhere, forever.

FYI, Stucco-Flex, the same acrylic in this video has sand in it that provides a nonslip surface.

Kirk, how would you make interior plaster as was made one hundred years ago, example the type with hair in it as a binder?

Howdy Reconciliation Dude, I'd use what's available now, such as gypsum plasters if extra strength was needed I'd get into the veneer plasters that have crushed limestone in them or even crushed marble.
Back in the day, they used whatever was found in abundance including all animal hairs and human hair if available, I've read about 20 other other materials that were put into plaster to reinforce it's strength also, more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Howdy Stashu Dude, this acrylic stucco is engineered to go over cementitious basecoats walls on homes.
However, my neighbor had it on his wooden stairs for over 5 years and it still not beginning to show signs of any wear and tear.
Of course, his front stairs on the east side where the sun rises thus gets no sun, as a rule, if the sun is hot it bakes a wood wall for days without proper primers the paints or acrylic stuccoes can separate.

Howdy Monte Dude, depends, on the driveway, we did with the steep slope about 15 years or so ago, the sand is still very heavy, even with tire spinning on it when it wet or a bit of snow on it.

I guess I am Kirk junkie…. I always learn. Did I hear it right -you did this on stairway of neighbors house over the wood? I would love to see that. Do you think this would work over tile inside of the house? Is it easy to do for beginner? Thank you Kirk, have a blessed holidays and all good in 2019.

Howdy MimI, yes you did hear correctly, I will add that video tomorrow in the description as It's getting late tonight.
I would not suggest you use this acrylic stucco inside as it has sand, drop an egg my mistake and it's difficult to clean, stick with traditional flooring such as tile for insides.

Howdy Fernando, just thought I'd let folks know that often excess acrylics have other advantages that are quite beneficial in some cases.
So contractors do as I do, don't have the Stucco acrylic companies tint all the pails as you can get a refund on all unopened pails as long as they don't add a color, or keep the excess and color a different color for a different project.

i'm not a fan of the whitish color it cures to either Kirk.
but i do appreciate it as a solid, very durable and fast curing product.
    wonderful video btw.
i'm always in awe that you can pull off a professional job AND be a professor of how to do it and why you are doing what you do at the same time. it's a gift you have.

Evening Yes Dude, contraire monfraire, cement products don't have that great a shelf life, a year or two for best results.
The accelerator luminite for setting cement, last about a month when opened than you have to use two times as much to set the cement, another month three times to do the same setting as when the bag was opened, and on and on.
It's funny, cement bags are sort of like food eat them fresh for best results. Unless it's pizza after a rough night, tastes better than fresh.

Do you have any tutorials or tips on how to do a concrete floor look for a house? My house has a plywood underlayment and I like the concrete look. Not sure if I can use any product directly on plywood? I would rather have a concrete floor look than tiles. I hate seeing grout lines.

Good Evening Tran, that's happening a lot of places, first a good peal and stick heavy mill membrane must be laid down, next a flat self furred metal mesh wire like 3.4 needs to be laid over the membrane, caulk all the nails heads well than apply a bed of mortar, there are specialty companies that will spread cement directly over this and polish to many designs.
I would suggest you google companies that specialize in this as the moister barrier is incredibly important.
Most of these cool finishes that I see are in stores like Safeway, Starbucks, Albertsons, where the cement specialties companies already have a bed of cement to go over.
      Cheers!

Louuu has been out for 5 weeks already, he flipped over going to fast on his ten-speed, the surgeons were good they set it right, so possibly he has another month or two, then learn to walk again before you can carry tons of cement.
The hard part of him stopping by was, I said, dude, "want a beer, he screamed, I'm on antibiotics I can't drink beer".
Man, I really felt bad for him at that stage.
I felt it my duty to kill one for him, that cheered him up a little.

Good Afternoon Gary McGovern, that depends on your level of skill, you can respread the whole wall or just fix the area that's incorrect.
FYI, if any area is too sandy take a putty knife or trowel and simple and gently scrape off the excess sand.

Louuuu is healing, I was there when the doctor said don't lift anything over 15 pounds or you can lose the leg, I caught him many times working from the chair, my response is always," is that worth your leg?"
He has been cleaning the whole block of debris for as long as I can remember, and can't seem to stop, even sitting in a wheelchair.

    Hey!

Question! I watch a lot of mattrisinger videos on total home construction: https://www.youtube.com/user/MattRisinger What is your input on whole house stucco adding to its Rvalue and the air tightness of the home. Do you think stucco if applied to the whole home adds a great value to keep that home air tight?

    Thanks!

Howdy Levi, I personally don't want an airtight home, in fact, if circumstances go as I have planned after my primary home is sold I will purchase a condo on the beach and will have windows open all the time so that life-giving oxygen can help keep us healthy.
The whole concept of airtight is total malarky, I personally don't wish to breathe in stale air, even in winter we have windows open.
Now, of course, a home that's waterproof is a different story.

@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. Correct. You shouldn't build a house air tight like a submarine. We need fresh air to stay healthy. These new air tight homes have air quality issues.

stupid questions 1) when should one use lime mixed in with there cement based products 2) when should one uses just lime + sand + water what is so important about using lime like the lime plasters , lime masonry products ,…etc Other then the color i cann't see to much is it just more for preserving it or a plasticiser property ?

@Wallace Rose yes i know from research the ancients used lime plaster for there walls but not sure what the consistency was if it was just gypsum /plaster of paris mixed with lime + water or what grade of lime they used….etc Could have been just lime + cement + water or lime + cement or mortar + water. Or most likely they just mixed lime with clay + water because i don't think they discovered cement until much later they always had clay though and limestone. But the heating of it i in ratios to make cement based products i just dont think they thought of until a lot later.

Also for this video i could be wrong but all the product is. Is they throw in acrylic paint with there cement mixture into bottle it up. Sure if you just painted concrete it wouldn't last forever unless you put a sealer on it so you can fix it using a sealer.

      Hi Matthew,
no primer or bonding agent is necessary if the cement is pressure washed so deep it's almost etched. The concrete this clean, the acrylic stucco will form a strong mechanical bond.

Howdy Kevin, this product was called stucco-flex, Dryvit, Carsons, BMI just to name a few are also great, you have to go to plastering yards to purchase these products as they are not sold at Lowes or Home Depot.
FYI, no matter how good an acrylic is it won't adhere to a dirty surface, for a driveway this means all the oil residues must be removed.

Should make for a great back scratcher once its cured.

Kirk howdy. So I'm back again. I did end up painting my whole backyard few years ago with a acrilic bmi product. Holding up great.
One thing I noticed and my question
can this stiff be clear coated with a cement sealer? For driveway. I can see it mark up with tires really bad.
Also my last stuff had silica not sand from bmi. Did I need a coarser material. I believe I used smooth, And seems it marks up very easy.

Good morning Oksana, keep in mind these acrylic are engineered for walls, not to be driven over.
However I have used them successfully for concrete, there are three types of sand fine, medium and coarse, I'd advise medium.
If the concrete has any, greases or oil spills from the cars or trucks nothing will stick to it.
unfortunately, like any paint marks from tires and such are difficult to remove.

The manufacturer showed various finish patterns from rollers, but they were unattainable, even by the factory reps. We settled on plain roller stipple. It's still going strong, and I'm an old b**** now !

    Kirk,
I want to give this a try on my concrete driveway and since Stuc o flex isn't available in my area I have to use dryvit. Which type do you recommend , Geninis, NCB or Primus? And can it be tinted , if so what would be a preferred brand of tint? Thanks in advance

Howdy James, Stucco-Flex, the same acrylic in this video, it has sand in it that provides a nonslip surface.

This is super awesome. I need to do my driveway with this. Where can I buy this stuc-o-flex? When I search Home Depot it is not there. I do see the La Habra equivalent. Is that also a good product? Thank you and keep up the good work.

Howdy Frost Dude, I'd recommend typing in Stucco-flex near me to find the nearest location.

Can you tell me if I did my parking pad area with Stuccoflex if my car tires would leave hot rubber marks on it? Love you ideas

Ok, I just finished resurfacing my entire 1600sf driveway with stuco flex. Thank you for sharing this video. I’m hoping the product will stand the test of time. I did notice that you thinned out the product significantly compared to the original viscosity straight from the factory. I’ll send you a private message with pictures. Thank you.

how much did you use? what did you thin it with? I'm having trouble locating the product by me but want to try it. How does it look?

@Patrick PK hello. I ended up buying 14 or so 5gallons buckets directly from stuco-flex. At first I thinned it as per the recommendation on the bucket, but then I rewatched this video and realized they thinned it much more. In retrospect, I should of just used official cement driveway elastomeric paint that will dry faster and have less risk of peel off. Do your homework and look up driveway resurfacing videos.

@Patrick PK overall happy with priduct. Looks good but areas where wheels apply a twist motion are peeling. Perhaps I applied it too thick. See link to elastomeric paint for driveway. I think similar without grit or calcium but possibly more official driveway usage.
