My son Jason and I are also participants in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.

With our Amazon affiliates links below, Jason and I took the liberty of researching the best tools at the lowest cost used by us. This removes the guesswork for you out of buying plastering and other stucco tools.
Amazon quickly provides this luxury. Usually, two day delivery with Prime right to your front door… makes a person downright lazy but happy. 👍
Plus, this helps support us a bit so we can keep making these teaching videos. Below are just some of the tools, hawks, and trowels we recommend through Amazon.

Kirk, from my view was that hawk acrylic? It appeared translucent and if so is it due to the product you were using? I know I know I watch too intently.

Howdy Jay, acrylic stuccos take more time in to learn how to use and gage the proper grits of sand, perhaps you should get a consult on the grit you need?
Plus acrylic's stick to everything and is a drag to remove.

Greetings High Tech Dude, the first finish was 20/30 and green but was a grain too heavy, so I used the 30/30 acrylic, grey, there is no lighter grit stucco than that.
My painting pal was happy so much, in fact, he bought me a 5th of Gentleman's Jack whiskey for getting him out of a jam.
I told him I would have preferred stake dinner, but the jack is working at this time of writing.

Kirk, love ya dude, but why not skim with mud, float, then paint since there is so much (paint) over existing stucco. Also, I know your a Stucco pro’s pro, but why do you never use plastic float like what’s used in Efis for finish for fine med or worm.
Anyway, love ya bro. Hot walls are tough to match, I learn from you every time your on. Take it easy man. Daniel.

Greetings Daniel my fellow plasterer, hard plastic floats hold no water, so joints come out horrible, plus often with the sand, I'm handcuffed to buy at my material yards the finishes often looks like a worm finish.
Plus you cant clean your tools with a hard plastic float.
I have a few on my truck, but only pull them out for compressing the brown coat or worm finishing.
I have had these plastic floats for over 30 years, I bought them when I visited the UK, as I have never seen them before that time.

I want to thank you for your videos. I recently put in a new window in my house that has a stucco exterior. I have to say that I agree with your assessment that it takes years to learn the trade. I discovered that I am not a stucco man. I started with the trowel, but just couldn't get the mechanics correct. I ended up putting the mud on by hand to get it set into the lath and then coming back with the trowel to smooth it out. Watching your videos also showed me one other thing – whoever put the stucco probably wasn't much of a stucco man either. As soon as I took my bulldog to it, it started coming off in very large chunks. Lo and behold, the wire was pushed flat against the wall, not the slightest bit furred off the wall. It really had only grabbed the wire at locations where the wire lapped and only then because the wire against the wall basically furred the lapped wire. I made absolutely sure to fur the wire off the wall when I put on the patch. Did I match the texture? Uh…nope. Did I try? Um…nope. Just finished it with a good old hard rubber float to bring out the sand a little and left it alone (future plans to redo the exterior of the house), but I may try my hand at finishing for just shear fun if I can figure out which finish material was used. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing your experience. Just wish you did work in my area (central Florida).

I want to remove my old wood sash windows and replace them with new windows. I had the house blasted and re-color coated with a skip trowel finish in 2016. What degree of color match can I expect?
