Jason and I took the liberty of researching the best tools at the lowest cost used by us. This removes the guesswork for you out of buying plastering and other stucco tools.
Amazon quickly provides this luxury. Usually, two day delivery with Prime right to your front door... makes a person downright lazy but happy. 👍
Plus, this helps support us a bit so we can keep making these teaching videos. Below are just some of the tools, hawks, and trowels we recommend through Amazon.

🎁Remember, once on the Amazon page, you can buy not just the tools we recommend but anything your heart desires.

My dad and I have switched to powerful, modern, and long-lasting all battery-operated Milwaukee tools for good reasons. Take the Dual Chemistry M18 Job-site Radio. For me, this is one of my favorite tools for any job site: http://amzn.to/3aVmD1T. I plug my cell phone in the top, then listen commercial-free to my music all day… or my dad’s favorite artists.

OMG Kirk this is a big issue.
the tape cost is the least of the problem as you mentioned.
the labor of removing / retaping / redoing jobs [whatever] is enormous.
    and the time lost.
    and the opportunity lost.
bad tape gives me cause to curse and that's not positive.
i'm glad other pros have these concerns and speak about them.
    thanks.

oh and you talked about cheap tapes..shredding.. ? what is it that make those stuck on shreds stick on better than the tape itself? we usually have to get the shreds off { we quote cleanup in the jobs ] and we're all over nasty about having to struggle with stuff that doesn't peel when it should.
it's like the factory makers put in the worst and the worst together to sell it.
quality is such a topic these days when a trades or crafts person needs to warranty their work.

man, If I were to start cussing about the time and aggravation lost to crappy tapes, I would have to change this channel from a rated G channel to an R rating.
As you well know, we spend so much time covering, and start plastering we have little time to-recover but have to stop what we're doing and protect the windows.

Man, I've got the same problem as you do. Except the good tape company was bought by a bad tape company, and makes only bad tape now. If you don't mind Kirk, what is the name of your best Canadian tape? I'd love to check out that echo tape, but they don't sell to Canada yet.

Howdy Gunther, I believe it's Shur-tape, won't know for certain until I get dressed and walk out to my truck and take a peak.
FYI, there are many cement materials that were the best of the best, which I or most of the Plastering companies won't use if they were given to us for free for the exact same reason, they were the best, sold out, now just living off an old reputation, this too has boiled my blood long ago, today, I'm aware, who these traitors are.

In fact, in an emergency, it's one of the things I carry and use for everything, such as a pesty worker who turns off our radio when it's blaring and were in the zone, a piece of this tape over his mouth and one to tie the wrists and feet, then shove em in the basement, end of an emergency.

So helpful to know what to buy. It agree it would have a been a waste of time and not worth the negativity to list all the bad ones. I have wondered about the tape. I have used every tape claiming they are the strongest including Gorilla tape and even that stuff doesn’t last in the sun more than a week.

Howdy Dizzle Dude, your absolutely correctomundo.
The name Gorilla sounds like it's strong as heck, and perhaps it is, but some tapes leave gluey sticky residues that can take hours per window to remove after only one week in the sun.
There is also a caulking with the coolest name sold at all the hardware stores that does not live up to the clever naming, meaning you can use an entire tube trying to adhere two bricks together let set weeks then simply pull them apart,
But try now with Sikaflex 1A, which is an adhesive sealant but only use a few drops of this caulking you couldn't pull these same two bricks apart with a vice and sludge hammer.

Our supplier just got Sika brand in but not the 1A. We don't have a lot of plastering companies around here so there isn't a big demand for plastering or concrete adhesive products. Do I just order Sikaflex 1A on Amazon or is there a better place to order it from? I do my own stucco repair and have some window replacements coming up. Thanks for all you do for the plastering community and for giving us the information to empower us to know when to take on a job or give it to the professionals.

Years ago Benjamin Moore paints had an ad campaign with the tag line of “it cost less to do it right the first time”.
There is no getting around that, quality supplies get the job done faster with far better results proving that quality actually saves money, not costing more.
Kirk, you have great integrity, a trait many tradesmen no longer have. Today it’s devolved into labor, skilled labor and up top where you are a true craftsman. Sadly many homeowners shop by price and they get burned.

Good morning Clint, I read that you too have been around the block a time or two.
I've learned long ago how trying to get the best cost is often the worst price when the product fails in an unusually short amount of time, it's mind boggling, the low quality of some products. Having learned this the hard way I'm still confused at times by cost and clever, but deceptive advertising.
