Jason and I took the liberty of researching the best tools at the lowest cost used by us. This removes the guesswork for you out of buying plastering and other stucco tools.
Amazon quickly provides this luxury. Usually, two day delivery with Prime right to your front door... makes a person downright lazy but happy. 👍
Plus, this helps support us a bit so we can keep making these teaching videos. Below are just some of the tools, hawks, and trowels we recommend through Amazon.
🎁Remember, once on the Amazon page, you can buy not just the tools we recommend but anything your heart desires.

Hey Kirk, why don't you and Jay set up a Drop-shipping agreement with Echo … You list and promote the product below these video's and 'they' fulfil the orders. You don't touch the product but you get your Amazon commission …. Win-Win. …… (Better do it before one of your subscribers do 🙂
OMG Kirk this is a big issue.
the tape cost is the least of the problem as you mentioned.
the labor of removing / retaping / redoing jobs [whatever] is enormous.
and the time lost.
and the opportunity lost.
bad tape gives me cause to curse and that's not positive.
i'm glad other pros have these concerns and speak about them.
thanks.
oh and you talked about cheap tapes..shredding.. ? what is it that make those stuck on shreds stick on better than the tape itself? we usually have to get the shreds off { we quote cleanup in the jobs ] and we're all over nasty about having to struggle with stuff that doesn't peel when it should.
it's like the factory makers put in the worst and the worst together to sell it.
quality is such a topic these days when a trades or crafts person needs to warranty their work.
Morning Pensive 69 dude, and me fellow plasterer,
man, If I were to start cussing about the time and aggravation lost to crappy tapes, I would have to change this channel from a rated G channel to an R rating.
As you well know, we spend so much time covering, and start plastering we have little time to-recover but have to stop what we're doing and protect the windows.

hey Kirk thanx for being so positive your my favorite channel!
Howdy Yuda Dude, thank you my friend, this one was tough to explain without losing faith, one would have to have the discipline of a monk, to be cool and not lose it when explaining certain circumstances due to failures in materials purchased.

Thank you Kirk, I greatly appreciate the endorsement of our Grey CL-W6059 (Millard approved) and our Red CL-W6089 stucco tapes. I have the pleasure of providing this product to both Northern California and Nevada. If anyone needs help with stucco tape, please call or email me and we will find you a local supply house. DAVID JUGAN with ECHOtape 714 767 2409, Davidj@ECHOtape.com
Man, I've got the same problem as you do. Except the good tape company was bought by a bad tape company, and makes only bad tape now. If you don't mind Kirk, what is the name of your best Canadian tape? I'd love to check out that echo tape, but they don't sell to Canada yet.
Howdy Gunther, I believe it's Shur-tape, won't know for certain until I get dressed and walk out to my truck and take a peak.
FYI, there are many cement materials that were the best of the best, which I or most of the Plastering companies won't use if they were given to us for free for the exact same reason, they were the best, sold out, now just living off an old reputation, this too has boiled my blood long ago, today, I'm aware, who these traitors are.

Great news man!!! Thanks
Howdy Leonardo dude, no worries, don't let my pain be your's, as it's a drag to tape a window twice.
Reminds me of the old saying, what do you tell a guy with two black eyes,? "nothing, he's already been told twice already"
that's how foolish I felt the last two week before I did this video.

Is it MacGyver approved?
Howdy Lord Baal Dude, indeed it is.
In fact, in an emergency, it's one of the things I carry and use for everything, such as a pesty worker who turns off our radio when it's blaring and were in the zone, a piece of this tape over his mouth and one to tie the wrists and feet, then shove em in the basement, end of an emergency.

So helpful to know what to buy. It agree it would have a been a waste of time and not worth the negativity to list all the bad ones. I have wondered about the tape. I have used every tape claiming they are the strongest including Gorilla tape and even that stuff doesn’t last in the sun more than a week.
Howdy Dizzle Dude, your absolutely correctomundo.
The name Gorilla sounds like it's strong as heck, and perhaps it is, but some tapes leave gluey sticky residues that can take hours per window to remove after only one week in the sun.
There is also a caulking with the coolest name sold at all the hardware stores that does not live up to the clever naming, meaning you can use an entire tube trying to adhere two bricks together let set weeks then simply pull them apart,
But try now with Sikaflex 1A, which is an adhesive sealant but only use a few drops of this caulking you couldn't pull these same two bricks apart with a vice and sludge hammer.
Live long and plaster,
Sharing stucco secrets and or common sense plastering tips
Our supplier just got Sika brand in but not the 1A. We don't have a lot of plastering companies around here so there isn't a big demand for plastering or concrete adhesive products. Do I just order Sikaflex 1A on Amazon or is there a better place to order it from? I do my own stucco repair and have some window replacements coming up. Thanks for all you do for the plastering community and for giving us the information to empower us to know when to take on a job or give it to the professionals.
Great information
Howdy Bro, thank you

Years ago Benjamin Moore paints had an ad campaign with the tag line of “it cost less to do it right the first time”.
There is no getting around that, quality supplies get the job done faster with far better results proving that quality actually saves money, not costing more.
Kirk, you have great integrity, a trait many tradesmen no longer have. Today it’s devolved into labor, skilled labor and up top where you are a true craftsman. Sadly many homeowners shop by price and they get burned.
Good morning Clint, I read that you too have been around the block a time or two.
I've learned long ago how trying to get the best cost is often the worst price when the product fails in an unusually short amount of time, it's mind boggling, the low quality of some products. Having learned this the hard way I'm still confused at times by cost and clever, but deceptive advertising.
Best wishes,

you're the man Kirk. appreciate you sharing your knowledge and hope you get a lot of business from these videos. yeah sure gathered a good following keep up the solid and honest work.
Howdy John dude, thank you, it's easier to do jobs properly in the long run plus honesty is more comfortable for the soul, not to mention one would not have to remember a false statement.
Llastly as Bones from Startack would say, "dammit Jim, I'm a plasterer not and attorney!"

If there is one thing I have learned from watching probably 60 percent of all your videos. Do the job right the first time, because it sucks to have to come back and fix it.

I'm not a professional stucco, painter, etc. In fact, I don't work anymore. Retired for 11 years. I do use big box store tapes such as electrical and duck (duct?) but when it comes to painting, I go to the paint stores for masking tape.

Hey Kirk, why not use blue painter tape?
Good morning Kane, the blue tape is excellent for interior work, but often comes off when wet, not a good idea for exterior purposes. best wishes, Sound advice for plastering issues from your favorite stucco geeks
how come you dont use casing bead around the window and doors?
Evening Ziba Dude, not necessary in our area, in fact, I feel it's asking for trouble in the future. FYI, when I work on commercial projects such as McDonald's, Starbucks or shopping centers, if the casing beads are in the prints, you betcha we install them.
