Live long and Plaster
Howdy guys and gals, In this video, Jason my son/plasterer/cameraman and editor, all around good guy, explain to those interested you how to make a bucket scoop.
These bucket scoops are usually used when removing stucco acrylic finishes, as acrylic finishes come in 5-Gallon buckets.
So pick up a scoop at the time of purchase. I have found in the last 20 year the small long handle Gren plaster scoop also know as a Bucket Dreger is by far the best., Little wonder it’s the most popular.
To pour a glue-like acrylic on a mud board can work but using a plaster scoop is more natural, faster plus much cleaner.
A proper stucco scoop confines to the surround of the bucket, this way it now only take mud out but cleans it as well.
Jason quickly shows how to, he’s using a small skills saw, but this is dangerous as it can kick and cut finger off, don’t do that.
In my days, I used wire snips, and occasionally a utility knife with a new blade, if you try this, strong hands helps big time.
Again don’t cut a finger off.
FYI all the plastering material yards sell these plaster scoops. Or go to our description click on Amazon, they are there too.
In a pinch, with a bit of common sense and Jason explanation, you can make a good one for the use of a day, or if you have the patients one that will last a lifetime.
Jason played an April fools joke too and put the stick on the inside, where seeing how many comments we get from this prank.
As a rule my fellow passionate plasterers, I describe in simple Layman’s terms the applications and reasons for our actions so that even my dear old grandma can understand.
