Howdy guys and gals, kirk and Jason the bearded plasterer and the guy behind the camera and your favorite exterior plastering geek here with another tip of the day, want to give your home the longest lasting, waterproof and flexible finish that looks like traditional cementitious cement plaster but instead is a 100 percent Elastomeric Acrylic integrated color finish.

What’s that mean?
Great Question, glad you asked,
Say for example when of the most common reasons for all stucco homes to develop hairline cracks is movement your house like the billions of others around the worlds will lift just a hair with 5 or more days of heavy rain, thus when dryer condition return the home will settle the chance of your home obtaining hairline cracks with this natural process is normal, but with a finish coat of Stucco O flex flexible elastomeric finish doubtful or very slime for any hairline cracks as it flexes with the movement and vibrations of any home, building or hotel.
To say any stucco home won’t hairline crack is a cardinal sin as there are 20 important reasons why all stucco homes and or building develop hairline cracks, but that topic been address in many other our videos already.
See the many benefits yourself at http://stucoflex.com/
If you really wish to really be impressed and entertained view my pal Dan Johnson’s super quick videos at http://stucoflex.com/stuc_o_flex.html
You will be impressed as I sure was and after well over 30 years it take a lot to impress old Kirk, his one minute videos worked.
I know some of you wish my videos were only a minute too, but I have to ramble which takes up much time.

    Hello Kirk,

Great videos – really enjoy all the excellent info.

I have a slump block house plastered in synthetic stucco. My question is, can I put traditional stucco over it, and would I need metal lathe or just bonding agent? If so, is it better to do a scratch coat first before the color coat or can I just do the color coat?

    Thanks,

    Dave

      Howdy Dave Dude,
If it were me, I'd pressure wash well then scrape off any leftovers that are peeling, I would strongly advise any stucco netting or wire being attached as this would be disastrous, so don't do that.
Instead, apply another acrylic finish coat over what you have.
Use stuco-flex, Dry-vit, BMI, carsons as the acrylic's of choice.

So putting on traditional stucco coat is not advised over the synthetic stuff? Just tend to like cement based stucco better if that's a option

Howdy David, you got it, now, you can apply a synthetic or acrylic stucco over a cementitious finish, but never the reverse as you were going to do.
Don't do that for too many reasons to mention here.

are all acrylic stuccos similar in quality? my stucco guy recommends Parex stucco, they say it is better than StucoFlex, what do you think?

Even better than stucoflex is Dryvit's Weatherlastic. A bit more expensive but the best product on the market. And no I'm not a rep for the company.

Econo-flex, just mix 4 bags of sand per 5 gallons of acrylic roof coating.

    Hi Kirk,
I covered a wall on my house with StucOflex as an emergency waterproofing solution. Now I want to refinish the stucco on the entire house. The installer wants to put a skim coat on the entire house and finish it with StucOflex. Can he put a skim coat over the existing area where StucOflex has already been applied or should he just cover it up with an additional layer of StucOflex? Also what StucOflex system do you recommend for refinishing a traditional stucco house? Thanks for your help!

Hey Kirk, very helpful video! Two quick questions: 1) Stuc-O-Flex has more than one primer and more than one top coat. Can you specify exactly which ones you use in this video? 2) We're planning to apply this over Hardy board. Should we tape the seams or just count on the primer/bonding agent to fill the cracks directly?

Hey Kirk – I see you are using a texture hopper to app;y – but can you apply by rolling on and still get a similar finish?
