Mixing Machine for sand and cement Render- Plaster or stucco

Hello ambitious guys and gals who keep e-mailing me about what is the best Mixing Machine for sand and cement Render- Plaster, stucco, mortar, paint here is the one I chosse as the lower RPM’s and the power can’t be touched by any drills that are sold here in the U.S.

Plus you can use both hands for steady mixing without worrying about the cord getting wrapped up around the drill and best yet, not get splashed by the higher RPM’s of a drill made for drilling holes, instead of manufactured for mixing.

Call me a sissy, but if you watch what we do you may notice that I hate getting filthing getting it done, that’s about as taboo as inhaling stucco dust.

Stucco and or rendering tips from your favorite stucco guy, “Kirk Giordano”, material knowledge is 70% of being a well rounded stucco guy, the other 30% is application.
FYI, although we make applying Stucco or Plaster Render appear easy, it usually take about 10 to 20 years of hands on experience to understand how to apply Stucco/Plaster/Render properly.

Nice mixer; smart move buying Made In Germany. For my recent DIY patio work I started out with an everyday drill, which got burned-out as expected. Then I got an SDS paddle similar to yours and used it with my SDS rotary hammer. Much better, but not as good as that Collomix of course.

Hey Kirk when do you wet the surface ? before or after the bonding agent

    Reply
    • Gandalf4137 says

      August 27, 2016 at 7:27 pm

Hello trumanwhippet. The bonding agent helps the stucco/plaster adhere to the wall, but it also helps you control the suction which is very important. Sometimes you can get away without using a bonding agent, especially if you are plastering over a porous surface. (stucco, bricks, cinder block, aerated concrete, etc). However, you can always use a bonding agent and I strongly advise you to so. Back to your question now. You can clean the surface with water and apply the bonding agent when the wall is relatively dry.
I am nowhere near as good as Kirk, but I have been plastering for a while now and I've watched all Kirk's videos. I hope this helps, my friend.

      Good luck.

Evening Gee dude, once anyone homeowner or contractors owns a collomix that's all they will ever use again.
This coming from a guy who has used every drill sold here in the United States at least 100 times.
Fortunately or unfortunately I have well over 30 years in this trade.

Howdy JimjIm dude, i'd rate the collomix, the best drill for mixing mud that we have ever used.
It mixes strong at a low speed so that the mud stays in the bucket which means no mud all over your pants.
it makes sense it was designed for mixing mud and not drilling into wood,
In my description above there an Amazon link to it,
      Cheers, live long and plaster
