Hello, our faithful subscribers and plasterers around the world! 🌎
Want to install stucco styrofoam molds around your windows and doors? 😉
Measure the wall where the stucco foam molding is going to be installed. Mark the measurements on a length of the foam molding with a sharpie.
Clean around the window where the mold is to be attached as nothing adheres to a dusty surface, not even Poly -Bond, which is an adhesive cementitious cement that holds the foam onto the walls.
Cut the stucco molding to size with a cement cutting miter saw blade, or the fiberglass netting will shred,
Do not use a wood cutting blade! 😡
For corners, adjust the miter saw to cut the first side’s depth at a 45-degree angle. Set the saw to the opposite 45-degree angle to cut the other side of the corner.
Set the stucco foam molding in place with the help of a partner. The molding is not heavy, but the molding’s length may require two people to keep it in place while it is installed. Now apply La Habra’s Poly Bond, which is specifically engineered to hold the styrofoam in place.
Apply the poly bond on the rear in an S shape.
Some say not to set using nails but instead use tape. 😖
I say this is ridiculous. I’ve had many stucco contractors, even my friends who are stucco contractors, call me and say, “my styrofoam fell from a building.”
I say, “Dumb ass,” you should have used 16 penny nails to attach them while the poly bond set, the nails, sink into the wood substrate, no matter how high they can’t be blown off or loosen.
I’ve actually heard, “Won’t the nail’s puncture the two layers of paper? As if the 10,000 on average nails or staples used to attach the lath don’t already puncture the paper.
Hello, it’s a self-healing two-ply paper 60-minute paper. If this were true, every house in the world that is stucco would be leaking.🤷 I am not kidding. I heard this many times.🤔
