Can you use hydraulic cement to put prior to the stucco for water barrier purposes?

Evening Paz, Hydraulic stucco is not a water barrier, it's a cement plaster that gets hard fast when water is added to it.
I use hydraulic cement plaster often.

I was actually looking up some videos on concrete countertops when I came across one of your videos that covered different types of stucco finishes. I dont have any plans at all to do any sort of stucco work but the topic just interested me. The video wasn't ultra time consuming so I watched it. Now almost 2 hours, 4 chocolate donuts, 1 family size bag of doritos and a 2 liter of code red have been annihilated as I remain right here glued to this channel watching more and more of your fine videos. I don't know what to say fellas. This certainly is an unexpected 1st for a crusty 54 year Old SOB like me! Hey DIY channel… If your smart. You would be doing whatever you can to put together a tv show on your channel featuring these two by the time the spring line up kicks off!Who in the hell would have ever imagined that stucco could be this compelling??? You fellas nailed it! It's your professionalism, skill level, expertise, customer service attitude, the unmistakable enjoyment you reflect to the viewer regarding your chosen profession, your unceasing attention to detail, skill, knowledge, enthusiasm and penchant for concise and complete instructions. These are all earmarks of true master craftsmen!!! Those old boys over at "This Old House" better look out. Because clearly; There's A New Sheriff In Town!!!

Good Evening Patriot, I use Hansons Premium Lehigh cement plaster sold at the plastering yards such as Westside Building materials.
I use this cement plaster mixed with 3 parts sand to every one part cement plaster.
By the way, Stucco is cement plaster two words that mean the same thing.

I think there are some wider sds chisel bits for the roto drill to take a wider portion off at a time. Think theyre primarily made for removing thinset but I don’t see why they wouldn’t work for this.

YOUR VIDEOS HAVE HELPED ME TO BETTER UNDERSTAND HOW TO STUCCO WALLS, HOWEVER, i MADE AN ATTEMPT TO SKIP TROWEL TEXTURE AND FAILED. THE TEXTURE WAS A TIGHT SKIP THAT HAD LONG THIN, BUT THICK SKIP TROWELS, AND I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO DUPLICATE IT. i HAD TO HIRE SOMEONE TO FINISH MY BROWN COAT, AND SCRATCH COAT, AND IT COST ME A LOT OF MONEY, BECAUSE i AM JUST A HANDYMAN. CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THE MIX SHOULD BE, BETWEEN SAND AND MORTAR, AND GIVE A DEMO. i LIVE IN NEVADA AND IT IS A COMMON SIGHT ON HOMES HERE FROM THE 80'S AND 90'S, THANKS AGAIN

@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. I thought I watched everyone of your videos, but after searching your channel, as you suggested, I was able to find this https://youtu.be/WkUaA_EHErg. It gave me a better understanding of the mix, thanks so much. I was thinking the 20/30, was a mix between the texture, and the amount fo sand to add, so I was putting in play sand to the texture, error number one. I will keep practicing, thanks for your input. Sincerely, Nevadacool

I have watched your videos for awhile and then a few years went by. Last few days I had to change a sliding glass door for some relatives.( I do a lot of side work ) The door was smaller than the original so I had to build a small wall and match the stucco. Even though I just do it as side work and have done everything under the sun shy of building a house, I've never tried stucco. Thanks to you and your videos, I nailed it. You are a true professional and now I watch your videos just because I appreciate your craftsmanship. Second to none.
