Part content of BMI 690 is Poly—-sty—rene
Polystyrene is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene. Polystyrene can be solid or foamed. General purpose polystyrene is clear, hard, and rather brittle. It is an inexpensive resin per unit weight.
1 hour dry time in sun procedure then on a whole wall? TY cheers bro
Evening Peter, where were you when I needed you?
I think they should hire you for a representative, I'll call Jerry Pozo and see just how bad he needs his job.

Once upon a time there were 2 homes being built within close proximity of each other in a big valley. The 1rst house was eifs house and the 2nd was to be finished with traditional stucco materials. Early that morning the crew workin the stucco house had their brown coat mud all mixed and ready to go. Just the the day before the crew at the eifs house had been grinding foam board…. All of a sudden, out of east, "the devil's breath" blew ALL the styrene particles from the eifs house into the fresh mud the crew had just mixed. ERRRR!!! However ,instead of waisting all the mud and throwing it out, they decided to mix it in, heck of a good, and brown the house with the new material they had just created. Their frustration quickly turned to joy as the material seemed to leap off their hawks and onto the walls. …. and that's the story of how the light weight mud from BMI got it's start…oh yeah ..and every one lived happily ever after. "The End"
Hey lookin at me dude, this would make a good movie.
Too bad my kids are all grown up, otherwise I would use this story as it's cool and true.
You have a knack for storytelling, plus everyone loves a good ending.

Is this another one of those, Todays miracle product, that becomes tomorrows class action law suit.
The first answer to your thumbnail title is three, according to my owl.
The more important answer of will this material lead to failure, doubtful as the engineers that work for BMI have tested this to the max.
Excellent question, because as a rule I'm sceptical of what I place on a walls as I'm now responsible for all my choices.

Kirk and Jasons DIY plastering network
Gotca Brother,7/8th just might work for me.I will try to contact BMI see what they think!! You're teaching me alot Kirt after 40yrs in the painting business, then trying to get the basics in doing plaster and turning 60yrs old in july this year, your videos are invaluable thanks again my Friend!
Hello Brent Horton, thank you,
I think painting and stucco go well together. I often tell folks there's more to painting than most folks realize, just like stucco.
Lots of details and knowing the right materials for the job.
Happy New Years, from the Giordano’s
Kirk thanks for the videos that you post! I have a few questions I live in Tennessee.. I'm looking to buy a house that was build in 1996 it has stucco finished and i'm little worried about stucco in general.. I did watched your video's and you showed how it can be repaired.. 1. Does it provides good as brick noise cancellation? 2. Does Stucco keeps cold away as good as brick? 3. I know this one will sound dumb.. If it was up to you when you buy a house would you prefer brick or stucco? 4. How to determine if it has damage from inside? Thank you! and Merry Christmas!
Morning glockman83, good question, I think they are both excellent in insulation values.
A brick home is maintenance free, never needs paint, big plus.
A stucco home with a cementitious color coat, has similar maintenance free benefits.
I am not an engineers so don't know which is a better for sound and or noise, stucco on a wood shear wall wall is is usually about 1 inch thick while brick homes are twice that, unfortunately in my area we are prone to earthquake so theres not many brick homes.
To look for damage on either home start with the foundation and look for hairline cracks, look at the areas near the windows to notice if the walls are sagging and or have above normal cracks and so on.
You'll be surprised of what a close visual inspection might reveal.

Cool video guys…remember it is EPS (Expanded Polystrene)…think foam shapes.
Mr. Pozo, I will remember the name now that I had such an issue with it at first, (Expanded Polystyrene)
I'll bet you're lying in the sun at some fancy hotel at this time when the rest of us are shivering with the wind and the cold.
Happy holidays and have a great new year, your pal, Kirk

so do you think this stuff would help hold the heat in ? and you definitely could not do that on the hawk with sand and cement would hit the ground so fast
Hello Mac Plastering, good question, so the chemists say.
I'm an applicator like yourself.
Kirk and Jason’s DIY plastering tips
I'm thinking about putting this on an 8×16 tiny house on a trailer. would this stuff hold up, say with maybe some chicken wire stapled to that hook boards? the sheeting board that has all the holes for hooks and shelving. if it cracks. I can always repair or ENHANCE the cracks. thx for the video. oh also ..what would the weight be like on something like that? maybe 1/2 thick.
Morning Goldberg, there is no limit to where stucco can be applied except, trailers.
Movement or vibrations at the slightest will crack any and all stucco.
For example if your trailer was to move by walking in it, the stucco would crack terribly.
I don't advise stucco on trailers, myself, sorry.
Best wishes,

Thx for the tip
no worries,
