Don't they make new plywood lath to fix the old ? Cheers
Hey Peter, no. I believe this board stopped being used around the late 1920's,
good question brother.

Hey Kirk, I've watched a lot of your videos these last few days. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to evaluate if there is stucco damage on a 50 year old blocked house I'm thinking about buying, I'll probably get a professional to do the evaluation too but want to learn on to do it myself.
Thanks for all these great videos!
HI iceloop26, tough question, without seeing I would not have advice for you, I would suggest you pay for a home inspection, Sorry,
I know what I would be looking for, water damage, cracked foundations, stucco separating for the blocks if it has stucco and so on.
best wishes.

@Kirk & Jason Giordano's DIY plastering and stucco network Thank you for the advice, I did a more detailed inspection like you said, seeing if anything was loose and cracks and there was some damage so I decided not to buy the house (the price + repair was too much, and the owner did not agree with the damage) thanks again!
Good morning Iceloop, sorry to here it didn't work out, but that is a decision that you have to be informed intelligently in order to come to this conclusion.
Best wishes with this sort of homework,

Kirk where do you get your stapler from?
Hello OneGoneBullet, you can buy these at Home Depot or Lowe's, or of course any of the plastering material yards also sell these.
Cheers and have a Happy New Years,

Why couldn't you use Weldcrete and stucco on to the laths? After all, failed felt wasn't why you were working there.
Howdy Jock dude, this would fail to waterproof permanently.
shortcuts are good but not the ones that compromise the integrity of leaking,
Best wishes,

Dumb question., What is a key?
Howdy Cross Dude, not a goofy question at all, in the real world a key usually opens a door.
In the case of plastering a key is what allows the stucco to embed itself, that's why it's called a stucco key.
Another example if you see an old wall with furring wood strips spaced about a quarter inch apart, the plaster goes through these gaps or what we call 'keys" then mushrooms behind this wood and gives the plaster a good bond or "key."

Gotcha, Kinda like what a pop rivet does, once again, you the man! watching you actually inspires me to do the work on my house. BTW too many regulations in California, more like extorting money off all your jobs although I guess it grew from inexperienced users having plaster fall on peoples heads.
Hi kirk whats your pricing for lath only??
