    Thanks for another informative video.

A stupid question probably, but why not stucco the inside of a house … or why not plaster outside of a house?  What is the difference?  Where can I go to get an explanation of these different mediums and when to use them and how?  Is stucco the same thing as cement?  Could you use something like Portland Cement to stucco a house?  Like there is this guy who makes kitchen countertops out of concrete … is that the same as cement?  How do you know all this stuff?

By the way, you are lucky guy, I assume that lovely blonde lady is your wife, she is very  pretty, and a great looking family too.

Evening truth dude, I hear theres no such thing as a stupid question, and you are already at the place to ask this question.

I type with 2 fingers, but here goes,

Stucco and cement plaster means exactly the same thing.
if I said stucco and plaster they don't, confused?
The key word is cement plaster or cement plastering which means exterior work or as in the UK, rendering.

Plastering means work on interiors. Notice I didn't use the word cement in front of plastering? If you use interior plaster for an exterior wall or for any patchwork the rain and weather would bring it back to it's original powder and appear beat up after a few days of rain as it's not meant for interior use.

Now can you apply stucco or cement plaster inside, yes,  I have done this many times as it's o.k. for base coats, or you can use base coat plasters too, I have even applied color maintenance free finishes on my ceilings as it looks cool, what would happen if I applied a cementitious color finish on my walls?
Well mainly if you brush any part of your naked flesh against the cementitious finish it would scratch the skin off you with possible bleeding, I learned this the hard way.

Lastly you can do not only counter tops with portland Cement but many other materials as well my favorite is countertops with arcastone.

By the way thanks for the compliment me wife is a hottie and the kids are groovy too!
       best wishes,

Great amswers on the cement plaster info…I have another question for you..

Have you ever done tadlakt bathrooms…it is done in europe and middle east all the time but I cant find much information on it nor anyone who has had it in their house….in the usa…

It looks like concrete but I am really
.or pretty sure…it isnt concretr…it is an ancient method… i am told it is very labor intensive…it cant be concrete but I dont know…

I have to know a bit more about it before I have someone do it because I dont know if I will like it and I wouldn't know if I was being sold a bill of goods. Do know anything about it?

      Morning Sislertx, another great question.
Tadelakt  is basically lime plaster, not a Portland cement as one might expect.
When you apply one to two coats it looks cool, very similar to eco stucco which I do have a few videos of doing, however i'm not a big fan of applications that take constant maintenance such as sealing the lime that these shower or bath or basins require with the black or olive oil soaps, although these lime finishes look really cool there is a maintenance depending on how much you use it, you have to keep the sealing process going forever, Very similar to other shower finishes I have applied in the past 20 years for me I hate to say it as I'm an applicator, but I Installed tile on my walls after repeating this nonsense of resealing.
I'm not insulting any of these lime finishes, however I dislike maintenance of too many things, it's tough enough to keep the maintenance on my health without worrying about a shower wall too.
Google the word  tadelakt and you can quite possible read for days.

Morning Sislertx, last job I did nere there was Sears point raceway, the three story watch tower about 20 years ago.
At that time in my life I didn't notice the weather, if it was hot or cold, for me there were no worries.
Other than that Petaluma is about an hour from my home.

How far is Oakland from home for you, Kirk? Do you travel far and wide with your work?

Hi Llyr Jones, Oakland is 4 blocks from my Alameda home, just over the Park street bridge.
I work sometimes as far as to Santa Cruz to Petaluma, Pacifica, Walnut Creek and so on, most of our work is in Berkeley, albany, Oakland and surrounding area's however I don't drive to all these  far off locations to just bid jobs,
I ask folks to e-mail me their projects, I bid off pictures then drive to far off locations to do the work.
If folks don't, e-mail for can't or won't, I usually e-mail them a referral to some other plastering contractor in their area.
E-mail of projects far from my home save's me much needed time, usually.
On some projects I give a ballpark cost and if accepted drive out to view access and other things I would need to know by site.
This method has worked for us well for the last couple of years now that I know how to utilize Google and open documents.
       E-mail address is kirk4stucco@gmail.com

I have a question. Can or will stucco stick to a sheet of aluminum? What's the best way to stucco an aluminium wall? If possible.

Morning xlargetophat, good question, stucco can stick to almost and wall, however a bonding agent must be applied, I would advise NOT spinning your wheels trying to adhere stucco to aluminum siding.
it may stick for awhile but in the long run possible less than a year you will have many problems with this application.
Sounds like you have a  manufactured home, modular home, or possible a mobile home. again my advice is Don't  do it.
25 years ago my buddy and I thought to do this as he had a mobile home, common sense won out and we decided against it!

Hey Kirk! I'm sorry this is not related to the video at all but have you ever worked on a job where the the home owner is constantly watching over you, getting in the way or even just being a general pain? I was on a Job yesterday to plaster this guy's living room and he was literally watching my every move…asking how long i would be doing this part..that part etc. This honestly went on for 6 hours straight during the preparation, mixing, putting my first coat on etc. I usually don't mind any homeowner coming in to watch me and being curious of what i do….But this particular guy thinks he knows better than i do at my own job even though he works as a Lawyer and has a bad ass attitude to begin with haha. It makes me feel uncomfortable when i work in his home, its like having an annoying boss. Should i confront him and tell him to back off while i work? I don't like being rude in another persons home but its beginning to irritate me. Have you ever had a similar experience?

Hi goldenalex, yes I have had hundreds of client's watch what we do, I get a kick out of it and explaining what were doing, so much in fact I bore the crap out of the person watching and they usually go back in the house and get back to watching something really entertaining, like the Big Bang Theory, or Game Of Thrones.Best wishes,Kirk & Jason Giordano's DIY plastering channel
