Thanks for posting this video on the characteristics of Diamond veneer…I'm planning to scrape my popcorn ceilings in my dining room and hallway both adjacent to my kitchen, and wanted to ask you if you'd recommend this veneer product to skim my ceilings, or if I should go with a conventional compound (such as USG Plus 3 All Purpose) in order to get my Level 5 finish.  I know if I go with this veneer finish I would have to apply Plaster Weld to my ceiling since for a good bond, since I have regular drywall and not blue board, correct?  Thanks for your help! – Mark from San Diego

Evening Mark, no worries, Diamond Veneer takes practice, before it starts to darken it's ready to trowel down smooth. A spray water bottle work's better than the old fashioned felt brushes or monster paint brushes to bring out the fat. This veneer plaster can't be sanded so if you lose some area's it's best to allow to dry then just go over these bad areas with freshly mixed diamond. best wishes, Kirk & Jason Giordano's DIY plastering & stucco network

You guys over there should do this more. Way more superior finish. Ps id use a bonder on the popcorn walls then either one coat of struco lite float in then skim. Or to be honest. Overboard ceiling then skim with diamond veneer. Either way slightly messy.

Hi Jimjim Skimmer, your right. We mostly do as were asked, if folks say what's the best interior system, I do tell them the Diamond Veneer system.Kirk & Jason Giordano's DIY plastering channel

thanks for the tips, really helpful.
after its dry will the diamond veneer finish have a variation in color similar to this: https://cdn.remodelista.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/fields/Catskills-Farmhouse-front-room-parlor-by-Jersey-Ice-Cream-Co-Remodelista-3.jpg
or is there something special that needs to be done to achieve the look?

Greetings Greg, a few coats and colors with a lot of elbow greas.
      And tape that sticks well.
There are three coats to achieve these results all require hard steel troweling with lots of water to get it smooth as a babies arse.

Why would over mixing cause failure? is it because individual grains of plaster set and make it crumbly? lets say you wanted to make your life hard and did this. Then applied some because it was your last bag. To drywall with plaster weld. How would you fix this issue? the section came out strong and is sticking but seems a tad dusty. Not sure if this is just the aggregate or a bad mix.

Greetings Christerfer, over mixing sets the plaster too fast as a rule, if you have the hand speed to apply it your ok. If chalky you didn't use enough water when troweling it down. All common mistakes. Getting plastered with Kirk Kirk and Jason Giordano’s sound plastering advice
