Failing textures, Peeling paint/stucco, failing stucco finish, color coats coming off, loose and failing plaster
Howdy Folks, Here we show a color coat that was separating from the stucco wall..
You can spend hours online and get nothing but contradictions with regards to liquid boning agents, I have read last week where Weld Crete failed on a large hotel by an attorney, I thought “doubtful, the fella’s who applied it did so on more than likely applied it to a dusty wall.”
As these fellas did in this video.
Weld-Crete bonding agent has never failed me, it’s usually well meaning but ignorant applications of any of the liquid bonding agents that fail to hold either paint, stucco, tex coats, etc.
“Nothing sticks to a dirty wall surface, this dirt includes, moss, dust, failing paint, etc.”
Any and all particles weather dust, moss or paint must be pressured washed well, first, before any bonding agent is applied to the wall surface. I like to call this process micro scoring , you use a pressure washer with at least 3,000 psi, plus a turbo tip to literally wash and score the existing paint, this will ensure a n excellent bond.
FYI, Sikalatex and Quikrete bonding agents are also excellent bonding agents, I prefer the weld crete simply as it’s colored, if we miss an area it shows, however there are projects which determine if I dilute the product or full use strength, please be advised by any instructions that are on the products you buy.
One fella suggested I dilute the bonding agent to save money, I thought there you go assuming, well meaning but ignorant.

I like long videos especially yours as they are educational. i also like the way you talk. straight to the point and telling it like it is. I have a job on my townhome which was my first house purchase ever. it was built in 1974 and has probably been stuccoed several times and is now peeling and cracking once again. i have decided to tackle it myself which brought me upon your channel. now will i be able to do it like you ? well maybe, sort of, probably not haha! but hey i can try ! i have made a quick short video of the damage and i would really appreciate it if you clicked and watched it to chime in on my particular issue. i need all the advice i can get. its some sections that are really high and also behind the peeling stucco is a powdery substance with sand in it and im assuming ill need to pressure wash all that away… anyways heres the link and i hope your still helping folks as i desperately need it. thanks Sir

Howdy Sir Braap, simple, you have no weep screed, but even if you did, this craking might still occur.
Each season brings new rains when it rains for long periods, the earth naturally swells then when dryer conditions return, shrinks back to normal.
Now add 50 seasons, this ground swelling eventually lifts homes too, when the dryer condition occurs, this causes cracking to stucco all over the world.
As far as the pealing, your base coat of stucco was not pressure washed or cleaned correctly, if indeed it was at all, dirty plaster won't allow any paint to adhere forever.
Most paint jobs which are prepared well will last about 10 to 15 years, then it's back to the drag of maintenance and doing it all over again.
The straight line in the stucco is likely due to this area having wood there at one time.
If you type in, why do stucco homes crack?
I have many videos that explain in greater detail, what is really going on with stucco that is cracking
FYI, cracking concrete or cement plaster is quite reasonable,
it may be unsightly but natural as peas in a pod or white on rice.
Cheers.

Just for laughs lol. Lil something I did while cleaning the stucco with bleach hehe
Kirk, I wish there was a trustworthy team like yours in San Diego. I'm a recent homeowner in SD to a 1954 single story. Do you have any professionals you recommend out in my town to provide an evaluation and estimate?
Good job buddy!! Because this option help to your customers to save money !! And you are honestly!!
How call the texture that you are using in this house??
Hi Kirk, what do you add to the La Habra mix? Sand + cement + water? Thank you for the instructional videos!!
I just love this stuff. More long videos . Please.
Because of you I can do level 5
And smooth mission finish. It's wonderful.
What is the white you are spreading? Is that finish coat white stucco?
Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. thank you!
The person that said the videos are too long never worked a day in his life LOL keep the long videos coming boss
Hi Kirk. I enjoyed your video on plastering over existing painted stucco walls with acrylic finish. I have a home that has a standard three coat cement stucco over polystyrene ICF's. Over the years, hairline cracking has appeared at almost every block joint (15" x 48"). Despite several extensive crack repairs and repainting, they always reappear. I'd like to go with an acrylic (Sto) finish over the existing to stop the cracking. Can we use the acrylic directly over the existing with a thorough cleaning and a bonding agent or do we need to first use a base coat (e.g. Primus by Dryvit)? If so, will the Primus adhere as well as the acrylic? Thanks.
TOOO LONG???!! OH HECK NO!!!!! Rewatched a half dozen times, my problem EXACTLY!!!! Thank you, done it RITE. F(forget) the haters!!!
Good Day Kirk. Have a house. I'm thinking about putting a texture. Can I pressure wash, apply bonding agent, then texture? Without putting a base coat?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc.
Ok. Thanks for responding quickly. I was really thinking of a knock down or skip trowel texture on the exterior of the house. Any ideas? Again, I was wandering if can just skip the base coat. I hope I'm making sense and causing an confusion. Thanks in advance, again, for the help.
Enjoy watching your videos. They're a huge treasure of knowledge.
I already have a sanded finish on my house. And its painted.
you should do a video covering basics 101, terms, jargon, etc. 🙂
Asshole
What's your problem
Great educational videos from a Master
Not sure what country this is, but in England render on exterior walls is the major cause of damp issues. Render destroys walls over time, it traps moisture and doesn't allow the wall to breath. It is destroying houses here in the UK that were rendered 20 or 30 years ago. If you live in a climate with cold winters and lots of rain like the UK stay away from render. In warm hot stable climates it is probably ok
LOVE your videos, even watching your old ones! All the tips and comments you can make help us all succeed. Wish you lived by me, would rather have you do my work. When you give the names and density of the mixes, that really helps as well. Thanks for the videos.
I love how Kirk says "the finishing trowel is for INDOORS ONLY" and then we see his brother using it to scrape off the stucco lol Great videos thank you so much for all your knowledge!
@Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. For sure! i just thought it was funny 🙂 Your videos are my go to!
A real American idol!
So I tried to stucco myself, and failed miserably. I am having a real stucco guy come out. At least I did better than the idiot stucco guy who poured stucco down the storm drains.
Thanku.
Cut to the chase. Just show us what to do and leave out the chatter
Kirk, why is that cementitious mix you applied white?
Kirk, your videos are the correct length for what you want to teach us. Thank you very much.
