How to apply diamond veneer plaster, diamond plaster applications.
Diamond veneer plaster over a structo lite base coat on a fireplace.
Hello everybody, in this video we are showing how to apply a diamond veneer plaster finish.
I didn’t have the luxury of applying over a whole wall where I could easily make 8 foot passes at a time. I or any other plasterer could easily spread two 8 x 12 walls in less time than this cut up little fireplace took, but I rather enjoy the cut up work.
On a typical wall say in the old days we had a fat and very expensive brush and or a flat felt pad which we used when the diamond was in the stages of hardening to aid with the removal of lines and to fill all holidays with the excess or fat of the diamond before it got hard.
This material when hard cannot be sanded.
Instead of my old felt brush I used my water pressure bottle to aid in the troweling towards the end of the cure time. This finish took me about 3 hours as there were more details that we didn’t wish to show.
If you go to Google and type in (Diamond Veneer Finish) they say you can paint the following day with an Acrylic or other High-Grade Latex breather-type finish the following day.
However they also recommend a USG decorative interior finish sealer.
