Stuccoing a new door, we misjudge accelerators sometimes too

Howdy folks,
In this video we show you how to do two coats quickly on an area around a newly installed door. At least we tried to. Sometimes we guess wrong with these accelerators or mix a bit off and things don’t go according to plan. Just goes to show that we aren’t perfect either!

Also, please see our web site at http://www.StuccoPlastering.com
Thank you for watching and have a great day!

Hey Dusty, you would have thought so after 3 back to back over acceleration mixes, but truth be told Jason usually mixes the luminite and knew how potent it was as it was purchased a week befor.
Lou didn't realize it was so fresh or he would have used less.
       best wishes.

I love your documenting the problems. Admitting the hard times and miscalculations inspires excellence and serves to build the integrity of performing this difficult trade.

      Hi Kent, thank you
There is always a few things that need adjusting with using these accelerators, but nothing we can't handle.

Kirk, I have watched several of your videos tonight and subbed! I just want to say…you seem like such a nice genuine man and your videos are amazingly helpful! I'm trying to decide if I want to try my hand at this or not. I know it might sound crazy but I do cakes and I swear I pretty much do the "tricks" you mention with my butter cream but I can't tell you how many times I've thought…eehh I can do that and learned my lesson that people who are good at something make it look easy but it's actually very hard. You make it look easy peasy but I know from experience it's only because you have spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours perfecting it. Thank you for sharing!!!

P.S. I have tried once  to decorate a cake and but instead butchered it, so now I buy them done up when necessary.

      @StuccoPlastering lol just telling it like I see it! Hopefully I'll work my nerve up to give this a try. I'm what you would call a DIY'er but I'm not so hard-headed I don't know when to call in a professional like you! =}

Hello MsDreamcakes, you have a great attitude, go ahead and give it a try, i'm sure you'd do well with anything you tried your hand at. Besides “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed on an equal or greater benefit.”

what do you use to feather the new stucco cement onto the the remaining intact part of the stucco to get it to stick?

Evening Thomas, we apply a bonding agent to the existing stucco, either Quikrete sold at home depot, or Weld Crete sold at the plastering materials yards or click on the description and purchase at our Amazon site, it's cheaper and delivered for free.

Hi Kirk been watching much of your videos very helpful, I am going to be doing something just like you are in this video though going to pull out the old messed up door & putting in new prehung door, couple questions is being never done this what is the name of the bag of stucco I need not worried what color it is being I will be re painting whole house anyways but what is the name of it at at the home depot?
Also do I put the brick molding on first before I stucco around the door or can I wait till after I trowel in new stucco?
I am good at plastering interior of house though never done stucco work before so it will be a whole new thing for me. I will have to replace out some of the framing that previous owner put in it is crooked but have a plan already on how to go about that before putting in prehung door. Thank's..

Evening Jerry, the brick molding is attached first, or you will have nothing to stop or terminate the stucco at.
I would advise you to buy a small box of Rapid set stucco at Lowes or Home depot.
A ten or twenty-five-pound box, as you just add water and apply.
The cement plaster I'm using, I buy by the 94-pound bag called Hansons Lehigh cement plaster and add three times the sand too, mix then apply.
