Covering a corner bead or corner aid with stucco

Hello folks in this video, I answer a question is it necessary to cover a corner aid with an eighth of stucco?
The explanation would have come out better had the scratch coat been set, plus most of you folks who watch our stucco videos will not need this information.
As A rule I cover an additional eighth only when I am applying a third coat or what we call a color coat in the plastering trade.

First stucco project – I'm skim coating CMU block retaining wall and I applied wire edge corner as I want straight sharp lines. Should I skim and push material in to corner then screed down to the 1/4" wire?  (it's a 1/2" corner-2 coat and color coat)

@Keith Granger Hi Keith, hey Keith, a little more or less makes little difference. I generally fill the corner at the bottom and work my way up so that it hold the cement plaster in place. Fill from the top and it falls through the corners. heres a video that might help, were going over concrete but it's the same with Cinder Blockshttps://youtu.be/_SAA11s0BPs best wishes, Kirk giordano

Howdy Kirk,Does the same principle apply to interior plastering? Some guys leave the very edge/corner the aluminium corner beads (used in my corner of the world) exposed, but for some reason I always try to hide it. I had a pretty hard time doing that last time though. Do you fully cover the corner beads when using veneer/sheetrock/etc? Thanks and keep up the great work.

Howdy Gandalf, it applies to most projects, if you're going to paint it's not necessary as this can make the corners weaker. Live long and plaster giordano’s stucco images and teaching videos

Regards wrapping corners vs corner covers for interior lath/scratch as a base for stone veneer, does it matter?

Good Evening Gareth Dude good question, depend on the owner of the property,
But if a wall is to be painted it really doesn't matter, as a rule we try and cover only when we apply a color finish, as the sand from the plaster can wipe off a bit of galvanization from the steel corner and if it rains it can rust, seen it once or twice before.
      covering them avoid this situation.

Great video (I'm a brickie ) my front wall is rendered but the corners /edges are bent and sticking out and rusted would I just chip away the 'render to expose the beading and put new beading on and then render over it ? Thanks

Howdy Kevin, if it were me, I'd just use caulking, then paint.  Peace, love, and happiness to all.Sound Plastering tips from your favorite stucco nurds
