Render Tender or Hod Carrying as we say here in the U.S.

Hello everybody, in this video, Another look at Hod Carrying, I am simply answering a few questions about what a hod carrier is supposed to do. I was a Hod carrier which is somewhat necessary before becoming a good plasterer.

    Kirk,
I saw your previous video on "hod" carrying, and you were wondering how the word came about.  The date origin of the word is below:

[1565–75; perhaps later variant of Middle English "hot" basket for carrying earth]

Greg, like the comment about the epistemology of the word hod, "to carry Earth," in this case to carry stucco, liquid stone – an amazing building material. Thanks –

Etymology of the word "HOD"1570s, alteration of Middle English hott "pannier" (c.1300), from Old French hotte "basket to carry on the back," apparently from Frankish *hotta or some other Germanic source (cf. Middle High German hotze "cradle"). Altered by influence of cognate Middle Dutch hodde "basket."
