Hello everybody, in this video Larry Beilman and I share some tips on Hanging plaster or stucco Styrofoam molds.

Larry Beilman is a thirty years contractor that specializes in building second story additions.

Larry has built at least 30 in Alameda alone in the last 30 years.

Take it from Old kirk I have worked for at least 30 general contractors, Larry is the best and his prices too competitive for his level of quality, that’s why so many architect’s refer him to their clients. You can reach larry at Larrybeilman@yahoo.com

Hey Kirk, I got a laugh out of your comment that arches never turn out perfect in the real world. I make my own wood trim arches and ellipticals to fit trimmed openings, the heads of doorways and heads of windows. I make a lot of the trim for the contracting company I work for to match the existing trim in the house. If they are more than an 1/16 of an inch off I might have to make new ones which could mean days of work in the garbage. Look up the Williams and Hussey moulding machine that's what I use.
Thanks for the videos Kirk you really do a great job!

Good thing I'm hired for my stucco abilities,

I think his point is he too deals with imperfect work he has to match or replace and if he has too many gaps he probably can not just wood fill them up 🙂

Howdy Bryce, we buy the foam already pre coated with stucco over the foam, you can cover these with a trowel, brush or even paint once they are attached

Good Morning Jack Dude, indeed it takes longer plus adds to the weight on homes, thus caring hairline crack on the wall not to mention they are dangerous if they fail or fall.
We used to do all our moulndl work by hand BTW.
The modern methods are much better for many reasons which this comment section would fill if I were to explain.

Well no true , if done correctly , probably you are correct with wooden homes. brick and mortar homes is a different story! Cracks only appear on poorly based construction. I find a problem with polystyrene foam is that its color change and it weathers much more quickly! than plain cement.
About the falling issue than you under-construction is poorly done
I rather use mesh than polystyrene foam for those easy parts. from one professional to an other.
Keep healthy plaster longer. your doing a good job fellow craftsman!

Poly isnt junk ya fool. Yes, what they did in this vid its fair to call it very mediocre. But! Poly done right, is cheaper alternative to brick, better insulating properties, has quite good fire retardant rating,in terms of double-storey homes it helps to keep the top level/overall weight of the house to be considerably lighter.

Greetings Michael, not sure myself, I am sure that if you call any of the foam companies for plastering mold that you ask for precoated styrofoam with fiber-glass mess tape and a cementitious coat on them
The sell these with a smooth finish or with a sandy finish.
You attach as we did in the video.

Howdy Andrew, If it were me I'd apply another coat over the front from corner to corner and feather this area in better so that the outline does not show.
FYI, to place a stucco styrofoam type of belly band over the top of are that show the pipe, more than likly wont ine up perfectlyy to make it appar that the band covering was intenshnal.
Type in some of our, (feathering vidoes) to see how it's accomplished.
