Stucco roof gables like the professionals

Hello everybody,
In this video we show you how to apply both coats of plaster on a
dormer unit on a roof top. I would advise anyone wishing to do this have proper scaffolding set with outriggers, or at least a kick board and wear a harness. It’s tough enough to apply plaster in awkward positions without having to worry about falling off.

Thanks for watching and have a great day!

Morning Kent Schneeveis, thank you, if you think that one was scary, the one I did yesterday was 3 times as scary, how scary? I didn't even want it video'ed as although I was harnessed it was tough, however, their were people on the ground using their phone's to video the goofy stuff I was doing. I didn't video it as Jason and I don't want folks to try and do as I do and kill themselves.

How much total weight from the stucco  job puts on the structure ? Do you  these deteriorate  faster then other jobs? TU

Morning Peter Agostini, good question, I would say I applied close to 500 pounds of stucco to this exterior, Although it felt like more due to the tough angle and trying not to look down. It's alway been my belief that stucco last forever.

Evening peter ol buddy, This dormer is part of the structure itself, it could more than likely hold ten tons. But then I'm no engineer instead a plastering applicator,

Kirk them dog houses suck just as bad when it comes to painting them,we usually use a hook ladder on both sides and it's still pretty scary and awkward trying to balance while your applying paint. I couldn't imagine trying to spread plaster all over them kudos my friend!

throw that safety belt away. when you fall the safety belt will break your back and then hang you upside down. We union brothers and sisters only use full body harness with a shock absorb lanyard.

I have no head for heights and respect your decision to take on the job, given that you were uneasy with there being no scaffolding ( a UK term).

Earlier this evening I watched, for the second time, the video where you had visit after visit waiting for inspection as you exposed rotten plywood, then removed it with the insulation under it. In the video you said, "There is no such thing as one coat, guys." In this video you did seem to pull that off using Portland and luminite. Or, did I get that wrong and you used rapid set?

Howdy Jock, not sure which product I used, but there is no such thing as one coat although many bags say this, what they mean is you can apply both coats same day as no one can apply 1 inch at a time and expect a solid inch to adhere without sagging then falling off.
Takes much practice to do back to back coats and excellent hod carriers to mix perfect mud as plastering is all about teamwork.
