Plastering hod carrier or plaster tender work description

Hello again everyone,
In this video we show some Hod work. This behind the scenes work is absolutely critical to keeping a day running smoothly. Here I talk about various Hod tools and pulleys. Carrying hod is a skilled laboring occupation which takes a lot of good old fashioned common sense. It’s underrated as it extremely physically but a hell of a good workout. I should know I did it for many years was really good at it.

Some of that hod pulling that Dan's doing is sure to build some serious muscle… dude's got some lat's going on. Is he a gym-rat too or is it all from hard work, thanks to his dad?

What did you guys do to that poor scaffold frame, in the background ??
LOL, I have a few "custom" modified pieces too. 🙂
Speaking of mod's, hod's and pulleys ,, occasionally I tuckpoint or rebuild chimneys,, so I removed the rope and wheel, and mounted an electric wench to the arm,, works like a charm.
Thanks for a look behind the scene guys.

This reminds me of when I first started stucco. We were working on a condo and I would spend almost the entire day feeding pails up on a pulley. It's tiring work, but I'll be damned if I couldn't twist down pretty much anybody in an arm wrestle.

Hi daluke61, Dan works out sometimes, but the real gym is on the job working. I'm always telling the guys were getting paid to work out so might as well enjoy it.
    Have a good evening.

Hey Lookingatme dude, it been this way for me for years until I finally learned about eating alkaline. Google (the benefits of eating alkaline)
And you will prolong that someday for at least 20 years.

Hi gcrady, your question forced me to watch my own video, I didn't see which frame you were referring to.
I like the idea of an electric wench though.
    Have a good night.

1st row, center..? Looks like it's missing the last 16"(screwjacks are set high) and the last interior rung is missing.? Might be a standard piece I haven't see before.(wink, wink)
Well, now I have to go find out what "eating alkaline" is all about, lol.
    thx Kirk, later.

Morning Nick Burke, thank you, hopefully you will never have to use them as they are heavy and very awkward.

Using that weel looks so much easyer than what I have to do, I have to take a strap apart tie it to the top level then I have to climb to which ever level they are on and fish the bucket up pulling it through the scaffold braces and all truly back breaking work probably the hardest part of my job

Not by a longshot brother, this type of bent over straining and pulling will create muscle strains, the methods we choose will enhance muscle building and strength.
I still have years to go in this trade, so I can't beat myself up or will I allow my sons or crew to hurt themselves just to make a buck.
       cheer!

Howdy Shawn, we don't now or in the future wear hard hats, they are only required on certain commercial jobs,
The day I wear a hardhat on a residential job is when I start wearing a diaper, Life's to short to allow fear to make all decisions in ones life.

This brought back a lot of memories! Started out "feeding the gun" , then hod carrier and tender. Taught me so much about working smarter and not harder and to plan ahead….cuz …man if that board was out of mud you sure heard about it! And how to stand on a wheelbarrow to shovel mud on a stand on top of 10'8" scaffold~
