Benefits of using a large swimming pool trowel

Hi folks, In this quick video I show some of the benefits to using a wide pool trowel. I get questioned on why I use this instead of a more traditional square trowel and the answer is I use both when I need them. In this video I am using a 18X5 swimming pool trowel.

For more quality products that I have been using, showing and recommending in our videos they have stood the test of time say for more than 20 years, (most of them anyway) the magazine below caters to these products, plus they have a really cool cover page at least for the January 2016 addition.
Don’t guess with your biggest investment purchace products that last longer than old kirk

Morning Bloggs dude, it really doest matter if it's british, american or any other nationality or brand name I have used my 20X5 with excellent results on interiors, often. I have been using a 20X5 swimming pool trowel for about 25 years. For me it works well with my skill level.
    Have a great day!

Evening Bloggs dude, buy the 18X5 not the 20X5. the 20 is so huge you will call me up and yell at me for the recommendation. The 18X5 might even be too big to use. I have found few guys who like the 20 and sometimes I even prefer my 18.

Evening Terry Broome, funny you say I make it look easy, today we did a video with stiff mud, I actually tried my best to spread it to show folks you're only as good as your materials.

Hi Kirk! Thanks for the videos. Love DIY, and do my own carpentry, but never touched concrete or plaster. Wanting to plaster over some cinder blocks, and brickwork to get a smooth uniform finish. Could you suggest a beginners tool kit with cost in mind?

Evening Simon Smith, a beginners tool kit simply includes a hawk and trowel, cost about 50 bucks.

Hi Albert, it's not a perfect swimming pool trowel as only the far corners have the radius, I used to use my chop saw with a metal blade to chop the complete radious off, but now bontool.com sells one, with the straight edge, will do a video to show what I am referring to next week as I don't really like to use a swimming pool full radius trowel?
       confused?
That's why next week I intend to show folks on a wall and in detail what I am referring to.

Howdy DRP Tools guys, the pool trowels you sell are great but there is a huge difference your has a complete half round radius at the end.
Great trowel but not like mine, close though.

Mine I used to use my chop saw to cut the ends straight for years but have now found companies that sell them like I prefer, watch the video below, when you guys state to make this straight cut, send me one I will video it for you and tell folks where to go to purchace online.
Just my edges have a small radius but my ends are straight as the video below proves.
      https://youtu.be/X_SRyTIVMbU

You can call this the Giordano Trowel, I will show in a video why it's better for all around plastering, that one detail makes a big difference,
Heck if you can make it 18 by 5 thats even better as my 20 by 5 is even a bit too big for me and my 16 by 5 is too small so like the three bears story make the first an 18 by 5 with a similar design as in the video and you can call it the three bears trowel, not to big or small, (but just right.)
Cheers and all you floks at DPR tolls have a happy new year!

No bonding agent on te edges of that patch? its gonna crack all along the edges for sure.i put bonding agent on specially if there's a painted wall.

Good evening David, we all have our ways,
FYI, bonding agents are specifically engineered to adhere concrete to concrete or stucco to painted surfaces.
When we patch around anything newly installed such as doors or windows for example, we overlap our new stucco netting with the existing stucco netting, this is the proper way to minimize perimeter cracking in patchwork.
bonding agents are for bonding and not for stoping cracking, however that's what life is about freedom of speech and for a fella to do as he pleases in life.
