Install new paper behind old & existing stucco paper

Hello again everyone,
Here I will show you one technique you can use to get new paper behind existing stucco. This is incredibly important! You have to get this paper as far behind as you can, just butting it up to the existing paper can sometimes cause leaks, it best to get an overlap if possible.

Surely the staple compromises the papers water retention ability i.e. you are putting holes in the paper?

What's the best method for getting paper behind the existing lath when there is fiber board backing?

Evening Taz, that's difficult, but we break out to studs and hope to find a few inches. many times we get nothing, I then have to disappoint the homeowner and explain to them the bad news. As when this happens we can't guaranteed waterproofing.. Unless of course we're allowed to remove the entire wall and start from scratch.
