weatherproofing old wood windows,
flashing paper on old wooden windows

Hi everyone
In this video I explain another way to waterproof an existing old wooden window. There are many ways this can be done, I think I have shown almost every way possible in the 400 to 500 videos we have with our stucco YouTube collection just to show you guys there are many methods that won’t compromise the integrity of the waterproofing.

Evening Ray Chronic, no need for either, I use usually premium for most stucco applications. It's a mix of common and plastic.
And no I don't put any solutions in the stucco cemment products our waterproofing is installed to the structure making it unnecessary to even try to make plaster waterproof.
Thanks for watching and have a good evening

    Hey Kirk,
on those old school windows, the ones that have a stucco-keyed  molding nailed to the window jamb, would you peal and stick into the key hollow, especially on the head? Did they use to run paper in there back in the day? Thanks,
    Kelly

@Kelly Goodman Hi Kelly, good question, everybodys different, that a polite way of saying some fellas are tired and may not, but a fella should run the paper into this key and then use a fat bead of polyurethane or comparable caulking which will fuse the paper to the wood frame permanently for best result,
      best wishes,

Hi Kirk, I'm installing some new windows i had made to match the old existing ones- that are made similar to these old windows in this video. only differnce is, mine have the stucco moulding that will sit flush with the final coat stucco. I will use your peal n' stick technique like u show on the sides here, to seal that gap between the windows and the sheathing. Question – do you leave the peal n' stick as the final layer (your lathe wire goes right on top)? Or do you add another layer of the type D over the peal n stick, paper butts-up/flush to the moulding and then sickaflex the paper to the wood? that's what i've seen you do in your other videos. thanks ! Mike

Could I use flash over the actual edges of the windows and in-between where windows sit right next to each other? I live in an apartment and there's always alot of condensation around the window frame an sill every time it rains. Also cold/warm air is always seeping through. I'd really appreciate your input. Thanks for your upload. God bless!
