stucco lathing techniques, easy to learn lathing tips

Hello ambitious plastering dude’s and gals,
I’m showing a newly installed window that also has a dog door, if you have a window that need to be lathed this video shows you how,
I titled this one, stucco lathing techniques on new windows, as thats what we are showing you, you will see how to attach paper and installed the wire properly.
With a small bit of attention you can and will save cash, create a sense of euphoria and sleep well knowing, no problemo, I did this repair myself.
Save cash, great workout, sense of accomplishment, what more in life does a righteous person desire?

Old Kirk says, material knowledge is 70% of being a well rounded plasterer,
The other 30% is application.

Other amazing feats to be accomplished with stucco below,

For more quality products that I have been using, showing and recommending in our videos they have stood the test of time say for more than 20 years, (most of them anyway) the magazine below caters to these products, plus they have a really cool cover page at least for the January 2016 addition.
Don’t guess with your biggest investment purchace products that last longer than old kirk

Those spiders will get to ya man hah. Great job as always. Got a couple of questions if you don't mind answering. Down here in the Los Angeles area we (at least not us) don't usually caulk the side of the windows unless there's a specific reason to (molding, type of window, etc) and the inspector has never failed us for it. Is that just a rule up there in SF? Also noticed you guys didn't attach any corners. Any specific reason for that?

Good evening A R Diaz, I’m a wuss for spiders, but only if they fall on me unexpectedly.
Over here in the bay area we have to fuse the paper to what ever farms is next to it.
If we get 30 days of rain and a home owner used a cheap and worthless paint the water can slowly get in. If it keeps this up for 8 to 15 seasons. There may be wood rot, then termites then ants eating the dead termites, then moldy Sheetrock and lastly Kirk getting yelled at 15 years later.

    Hey Gil Velazquez, thank you.
How's the interior plastering going, still applying the structo-lite base coat and finish coats?
Thanks for watching and have a great day!

Hey Peter, excellent question, they are too wide to be effective. I tried the 2 and 3 inch bits they simply don't work, the half inch is perfect, of course the spike bit is useless also for our purposes as it leaves to many indents in the paper.
Thanks for watching and have a great day!

Hi Kirk, Love watching these vids. Even though plastering is very different here In Australia I still enjoy watching your uploads. You do alot of metal lath work, we dont have anything like that. its just rendering with acrylic outside or lime set inside.
Just curious, How much would a subbie plasterer earn in the US these days? seems the economy is really picking up everywhere, we can earn some proper doe soon.

Union plasterers's are making about 40,000 a year if there is work, allot of real good union boy's I know are still at the hall unfortunately, waiting and hoping to go back to work soon.
Thanks for watching and have a good evening.

Evening again ciad dais, truth be told, that bug that dropped in on me to say "howdy" was the size of a small flee, but at the time it flashed through my mind it was a tarantula spider with 3 inch fangs, "oops" that's the kind of stuff that son of mine is supposed to edit out!
Thanks for watching and have a groovy evening.

Hey Gil Velazquez, o that, a spider the size of a tarantula on steroids jumped on me ready to suck the life from me, the site of this baseball sized spider temporarily scared me.
O.K. it was the size of a fly, but there was a bigger one up there eyeballing me.
      Cheers!

Hi Gil Velazquez, nope, it sets on the wall one way, however I have seen it set the other way about a hundred times, I simply use my hammer to pull it out a bit further so most of the wire stays off the wall a bit, If the stucco netting is too flat, the stucco first coat has a tendency to slide, plus it can crack easier in the future with less vibration or movement.
      Best wishes,

Greetings Space-Time Dude, it was a bit embarrassing being scared of an itty bitty bug, but at the time it appeared to have fangs three inches long, man, I do have wild imagination at times.
