Mixing cement plaster in buckets

Hi folks, in this video, Jason shows and explains how to mix stucco in a 5 gallon bucket. As he also says most mixes are different as we apply many ways. Read each bag as what he shows here is for what we are doing on this day!

Hey truth dude, I know the feeling brother, like my episode with my dish washer last month, 10 hours 4 different days 2 parts.
I finally called an appliance dude who fixed it in 15 minutes, best $200 bucks I can remember spending.
Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

Howdy howiboy, Thank you from both Jason and I. We usually have our tow behind mixer but on small stuff like this mixing stucco in a 5 Gallon Bucket is far easier.
Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!

Hey Kirk, Just like to say thanks for all you video uploads they are very informative and its really refreshing to see a professional such as your self sharing some aspects of your trade secrets. It allows DIY home owners the ability to try our hands at the artful trade of plastering / rendering. Great to see Jason also taking on doing some videos also, chip of the old black hey. I think you and you son as a great role model for up and coming professional tradesmen. Keep up the good work

Loved it! More mixing videos — Please do a pre-mix mix. Also — at what point do you add retardants and accelerators? Why do you guys like that style of paddle versus other styles? and please show the cleanup especially of rapid-set hydraulic cements. That stuff is a real pain to get your buckets clean again.

    Good Morning Peter,
I never ask my guys to do anything I wouldn’t do, there for it’s tough to sit still
But, I’m sure I can get used to it.
Thanks for watching and have a good day!

Morning lalleh, back to your shenanigans I see. You have control over but one thing in life, it's you thoughts. If you choose to imagine me drunk it’s your world.
I might remind you I already have a girlfriend.
By the way libraries have free admission.

Morning mjdmtlakes, thank you and yes Jason can do this as he is set to this work anyhow for a couple of small patches we are doing.
The thing about accelerators is it ages like a food, as it gets older it requires more, takes lots of practice.
Thanks for the suggestion, if anyone wishes to see how anything in the world of lath, stucco or plaster is completed, let us know.
More than likely we can show this in upcoming weeks.
    Have a good day!

Great! This is the video I always wanted to see on this channel. My only recommendation is a post-mix close up of the mud. It's nice to see what the PRO version of a finished product looks like close up to compare my (sometimes multiple) attempts at it.

So I have a drill and bought a mixing attachment like the one in this video but the attachment is too big for my drill. Do I need a special drill for mixing stucco or is there another attachment I can use? I have a smaller attachment that I used for mixing mud for tile jobs, but it doesn't seem like it would be strong enough for stucco.

Howdy Hope dude, every drill has perhaps a different size openings such as 1/2 inch to 3/4, below is a video on mixing that shows various drills.

Howdy Hope Dude, you can buy a drill at home depot for under 100 dollars make sure the chuck size is at least 1/2 inch as most paddle blades are at least that thick, you can even buy the dewalt drill in a bucket it's sort of small but has a paddle in the bucket too, we did a video on that one too,
