Cementing a door threshold instead of replacing the wood one
Howdy guys and gals, in this plastering video we show you one another way to repair a threshold, (instead of replacing the wood) stucco is water resistant and last forever.
Painting also helps to protect any wood that’s embedded.
That being said if it’s a decorative piece of wood you may want to rethink not replacing it for cosmetic reasons.

I was surprised that you didn't nail or affix some wire lathe – like rerod for concrete. This is solid and not crack?
Love your stuff – thanks for posting – I watch all the time and think it is great – I'm addicted
Hey Joe, thank you, cheers,

Howdy Joe Anderson, for such a simple fix any prep over than what I did would be overkill. Thanks for the bone and there are worse additions than leaning new stuff, thanks for the comment and for watching.
Have a great day!

I am adding a threshold at garage door the size is 1 1/2" by 6" by 16' what type of concrete I should use??
Good morning Danny Diet, easy question, Rapid set as it's fast easy to mix and extremely strong.
Plus you can purchase at your local Home Depot, or Lowe's hardware store,
Read the label about mixing, most of these rapid set products CANNOT be over mixed or it destroys the integrity of the strength.
Best wishes,

Hi. We have a set of new french doors. We had to order to ship in a full frame. Is there a way to remove the threshold and replace the gap with a rubber cushion so our floor will go through flat. They are interior doors. Thanks.
@Bill Harrison Hi Bill, without seeing your situation I can't say what I would do, however I will say this with a bit of imagination you can do whatever you want to your own home.
My house has floating beds hanging from hooks that move all night like on a boat, why because it's my own home and I am not limed to anything in my home.
best wishes,

Hey Kirk, I want to do something similar. I need to raise the prehung door from the garage to outside by about an inch. I'm laying pavers outside the door and they won't clear the door. Was thinking of pouring a strip of concrete about an an inch high under where the threshold of the door will sit. Should I use stucco mix like you did here or would you recommend something else. Thanks for your help.
Howdy Jason you can use either, the important thing is to weatherproof the sill bottom befor stucco and or cement

oh this is very similar to what I just asked a question about a sec ago.
Cool thanks dude for gettin back so quick..you didn't have to do that on a Friday nite.much appreciated thoughSo stucco mix will hold up even if poured 1 inch thick?? any any other tips appreciatedThanks again
hey Kirk just to clarify…so i can form it up and pour a concrete threshold one inch thick using stucco mix and will hold up for a long time?
not sure what the max thickness is for stucco…thanks man
Howdy Jason, I can use stucco up to 5 inches and will hold up forever, You should try to start with 1 inch use the mortar mix from home depot called rapid set, or any of the same day stuccos these can't be over mixed or like any same someday cement plaster they will be weak.

hey Kirk and co..that was cool to watch, thank you!
I was wondering: I am trying to repair my slab foundation. What happened is that there was a 5 foot wide sliding door to my patio. I put a 36" door in its place. What I was left with is the 5 foot long "step" on the foundation edge where the original 2×6 treated threshold sat. This "step" area is about 3/4" or so lower than the main area of the slab. I have to fill in under the new door threshold, and on either side of the new door bottom. Some of the repair requires vertical patching (also at the bottom areas there). What would you do here?
What is the best brand stucco for a job like this ?
Good afternoon Adam dude, for a small patch like this rapid set stucco, it comes in 10 and 25 pound boxes or 94 pound bags, you will only need a ten pound box for such a smallrepair.

Great video. I tried this myself. Unfortunately, my concrete mix was more rocky than smooth. Is it possible that I used the wrong type of concrete or I didn’t mix it well?
I used Fast-Setting concrete mix. It’s the red bag from Quikrete.
I guess you didn't work the concrete in enough to what I call raise the milk it bring a runny layer to the top which what you smooth out with
@ron kosh Thank you. I will give it another try.
Will Cement-All rapid set work? instead of Stucco?
Csi miami double.
Hi Kirk , love your channel . Would the stucco be susceptible to cracks as a threshold from people walking on top of it ?
