Maintenance free Acrylic Dryvit stucco finish

Howdy folks. This video simply explains what we did to this home many years ago using the DryVit acrylic finishing system. Its maintenance free, which means the body of this home never, requires painting unless you grow bored with the color.
This DryVit finish resists prolonged and extreme summer heats and is unaffected by winter snows.
DryVit is a leader in the stucco industry of acrylic finishes. This product is located in Hayward at Cal Ply their number is 510 429-8877 ask for Steve their sales manager. My personal opinion is that this acrylic is one of the best ever sold.
We applied the Dry-Vit acrylic stucco finish coat to the entire home.
(Please note:) all acrylics products are NOT created equal. Some are much better than others. Do your online researching well and Google customer reviews.

(Cementitious color coats verse acrylics color coat?) What’s better,
Good question, I don’t know. Just kidding,
Depends A 3 coat traditional stucco system with a cementitious finish should last over 100’s of years of course the colors will fade in the sun and through the years with many, many season of rain especially for months at a time the ground will saturate and move this is normal, however this will cause hairlines cracks, mind you these cracks do not mean a home is leaking it simply means after many season’s this will occur no matter where in the whorl you live. Also traffic wind, doors and window being slammed or shut hard will cause hairline cracks too, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. These cementitious color finishes will darken like a brick because they are maintenance free. (Never needs painting) But stucco does not rot like wood, too many other benefits to name.
Now acrylic finishes are basically Acrylic paints with sand and color, this means they can flex more than a cementitious color finish and when they get wet they do not darken as they don’t absorb water
(at least not for about 25 years and even then only a bit.) I usually recommend acrylics on hilltop homes where the winds and the rains are brutal, (usually about
50 to100 miles an hour) the rain mixed with high wind, will add movement to any home.
You will however pay more for the acrylics, do the benefits outweighs the costs I believe so in certain situations they do.

Was this your inlaw's house where you did the retaining wall? Everything looks nice.

Hey Kirk, I was wondering if this whole house is EIFS or if its a conventional stucco system with an acrylic finish and just has foam coins and detail bands. Also, Id like to hear what your thoughts on EIFS are.

    Thanks, Spencer

Howdy Footballlogic, excellent question, it is a conventional 3 coat stucco system with an acrylic finish. I used Dry-vit as my choice of acrylic.
I believe the EFIS system is great especially for high rise and many commercial projects. On residential homes I prefer traditional for many reasons.
Thanks for the comment and have a great day!

In my opinion, this guy does NOT know what he is talking about.  If you followed his direction and you lived in Colorado, you would be greatly disappointed.  Didn't Dryvit get sued so many times that the company went Chapter 13 or at least I see many customer complaints on google?
