Morning Truth dude, Most stucco walls just crack somewhat vertically and at a slight angles at all doors and windows because of vibrations and or movement of opening and closing.   Concrete like stucco can only flex a wee bit, as it's sort of like glass, the slightest stress can shatter glass. With stucco the slightest movement and or vibrations causes hairline cracks, this does not affect the integrity of the waterproofing membrane, however most folk panic as they have no clue why this happens.   Thus any expanding of wood is sort of  like Kryptonite to superman, not good.   If you use a saw to cut the touching of the plywood this issue can be resolved or helped, this should be done to homes in hot areas that the temperature reaches well over a hundred degrees for months at a time.  Plus the biggest factor of why concrete and or stucco walls hair lining is rain, depending on the amount of rain lifts homes and concrete because of natural ground expanding with water, when dryer condition occur homes and concrete settle, thus hair lining. There are about 20 other solid reason why stucco walls crack but these are the most common. Live long and plaster teaching plastering video’s

This is encouraging info out of the four sides of my house 3 are showing excessive cracking and the side facing the Sun is cracking and buckling even buckling in other areas not just at the foundation.I also noticed the mesh is rusting out so they must not have used galvanized. It is at the least 40 years old.

Hey truth dude here are a few more reason why stucco cracks,FYI, if a person lives in an area that does not get hot, expanding sheeting may not occur. I live in an area where we have only about 10 hot days per year that it reached 95 or above,    However in some of the valleys "inland" where I sometimes work I have seen the horizontal cracking often as the sun is more intense especially if a home is on top of hill and facing directly toward afternoon heat.     What is happening is the sun bakes the wall expanding the wood and often twisting the studs as the natural drying process occurs, thus the stucco cracks horizontally.Kirk giordano

hey I do hole patching for national sign companies. Up your way they facades are almost all efis. unfortunately I am the one they ship up your way to do the repairs. Do you have a fast and easy fix for efis hole patterns. I could use. Would like to see a video on that. Really hard to blend those out and not see it. I need to use silica sand and paint to blend the texture into the painted part of the plaster.

Good Morning Painter dude, we patch sign holes the same way we patch walls, you don't have to use foam just because they used foam originally, More-Flexx makes a great caulking with sand in it that is quite effective for small holes, if the hole is too large apply twice when first coat drying or piggyback the sandy caulking with a fast set prodct that fills the large hole or space first.

Howdy Marc, type in how to dash stucco walls, I have many videos that show how in great detail. You primarily use a light touch and throw it on evenly and gently then use the trowel to hit it also very lightly, that's called a light knockdown dash. Peace love and happiness to all.
