waterproofing a parapet roof with a peel and stick membrane

Howdy all you DIY folks, in this video we explain Jason and I show how to properly water tight a parapet cap on a stucco house. Note: there is a tyvek membrane with two layers of Jumbo Tex on the walls and over the cap itself. Next the roofing membrane goes over these three layers, and finally, Jason and I apply a peel and stick membrane which is about 50 mill thickness over the other four membranes. This is time consuming and honestly a wee bit over the top, but better safe than sorry. I have yet to be yelled at for being too cautious.

Howdy Visal dude, in fact I think I'll tags some others while I'm at it. For your convenience I have added a link to Amazon so that you may purchase this material with the click of a button, plus you support us as we might make a buck or two from your purchase. Lord knows we aren’t getting rich making these however; teaching can’t be measured in money, though.BTW, try not to use this in direct and or hot sunlight, as it’s really tough to use if it touches itself, in fact it will be faster to throw that piece away. My wife and I have used many boxes of this maximum strength membrane on decks also as it’s excellent for this purpose and easily applied with two people as opposed to one, you will have to trust me on this as I have used at least 50 boxes in my 30 plus years as a quality plastering contractor. This peal and stick membrane is also great for those wishing to waterproof a foundation. Lastly for a deck or foundation make certain the walls are clean enough to eat off as nothing adheres to a dusty an or dirty surface, Best wishes and happy sticking, Kirk Giordano Plasteringhttp://amzn.to/2n8oUOOhttp://amzn.to/2ngKLmghttp://amzn.to/2lFJAAJhttp://amzn.to/2mlorsv

Good morningMrs. Wallace, I thought you said you had a brick exterior? if so none of the material here will work, however, I do show how to skim brick walls in other videos. This peal and stick waterproof membrane wont work for ciderblocks or brick walls. Live long and plaster Sharing the plastering knowledge Kirk and Team Giordano

Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. Hi Kirk well you helped me already.. because yes the exterior is brick and at top of our building we have clay wall coping and they have not been repaired or maintained in years…like over 20 years. This is what I think is causing the moisture to come into our interior walls which are plastered. You told me to make sure that was fixed first so this is why now I'm focused on roof before walls. the roof had been redone last year but the parapet was not touched..only flat part of roof. we have some broken clay tiles ( I think that's what you'd call them) that need replacing. I really wish I could load pictures. I was thinking I could follow this technique to put caps on the parapet instead of the clay coping not knowing it wouldn't work on brick, this is why I'm teying to maoe sure its right and learn everything I can and need to know. Our building was built in 1902… again I'm teaching myself and have been going through all your videos to learn the best techniques. so since my home is brick parapet walls ( please excuse me if my spelling is off) what would you suggest to cap. I was thinking of repairing the clay and replacing the broken but if theres is a better way ..that's what I want to go with. I dont mean to bother, If im going to do this I want to do it right and I haven't found any other person or site online that I feel safe with their opinion and professionalism like I do you and your teachings. thanks in advance again!!

Good afternoon Mrs, Wallace, no worries, you can caulk under and over the top of these tiles with a Sikaflex polyurethane sealant and adhesive or you can remove the clay caps and instead add a metal flashing to go down both sides from 2 to 4 inches. How do you replace the roofing without chipping out all of the stucco?
