Mixing luminite with portland cement plaster

Howdy guys and gals, in this video my son and I explain, how we mix Portland premium cement stucco for many different stucco uses.
At the end of this video I am showing how we add (calcium aluminate cement) or what we in the trades call (luminite) to quicken the dry time of the cement plaster.
You can also buy bags of common and plastic and mix one of each but I prefer plain premium Portland cement plaster as it’s a combination of both. The common plaster is usually for strength and mixed alone with just sand and water is difficult to spread but very strong. The plastic cement makes it more workable.

Calcium aluminate cement is the technical name of this cement accelerator. We call it luminite. It sells for about 60 bucks for a 94 pound bag. If you’re not a contractor and just need a little bit you are better off buying the rapid set at home depot. This way you’re not paying for a product that you only need a handful of.

@Alejandro Peralez Jr. Dry- Vit base to adhere the mesh tape is a bit of portland with an adhesive, similar to poly bond. The base coat that goes on after you attached the mesh is just portland cement plaster. Best wishes, Kirk Giordano
