Installing roof to wall stucco flashing

Howdy guys and gals, in this video I improvise on Installing roof to wall stucco flashing.
There are many ways to flash a roof to wall area to prepare it for stucco, we try and come up with the best solution among the alternatives available. (simple common sense)

Hey Gilbert, I have done a few balconies this way. Mainly a fella will install a standard 4 x 4 inch, roof to wall flashing and then apply a membrane. There are about 20 different membranes I see used often enough.
Then we can counter flash with a drip or weep screed designed for stucco or if necessary attach a Z flashing.
    Have a good evening.

Howdy young engineer Fernando, on a wood wall we place the screed on the bottom of the sheathing, if this were a stucco wall we would have to break out the stucco.
    Good question.
Best wishes, and thanks for watching.

Where does it drain since you don't have any holes

      Howdy Thomas, good question.
Since we were planning on applying a color coat finish, a weep screed was not necessary.
I could have used one to counter the L Flashing.
However I preferred to use a Z flashing so that the with high winds the rain would not be a problem, where does any moisture that penetrates the cement plaster go?
Excellent question. It flows out through the bottom the same as it's absorbed through the porous color finish
Gravity with air evaporates this moister.
Now if this were to be a two coat cement plastering job with a painted surface, it would have been a better desion to simply drop the weep screed directly on the L Flashing.
      Cheers!

I have that problem. Had a room added for my sick mother and the oom leaks. They put on a flat roof and it leaked first rain. Can't contact them. Had it re-roofed twice and still leaks at the seem where it was added. I wish you lived near San Bernardino, CA. My neighbor told me they probably didn't put flashing so maybe I'll try too I myself. I also ordered some sashco roof sealant. So after nailing he flashing, did I understand that their needs to be paper and plaster?

what keeps water or melting snow from running down the grooves in the T111 siding and behind the flashing resulting in water problems (rot etc)?

Water can still get behind that flashing. Customer beware!

I was wondering about that. Flash needs to go under house siding I believe.

Step flashing goes on the slope of the roof underneath each shingle. Long pieces go on the tops and bottom horizontal pieces. His work wont leak because the stucco will overlap the flashing.

@randy jenkins I rewatched video – he did say it will have stucco. What threw me off was leaving old siding on….that is permissible?

I was trying to figure out how to do this flashing job and the double-flashing approach idea is exactly what I didn't think of and what I need. Thanks very much for putting this together. <3
