Brown coat of stucco lot of tips from different areas of this project

Howdy guys and gals, this video explains basic teamwork in our stucco trade, we all try and work together to make any project a bit easier and more enjoyable. Another crew applied the scratch coat on this home but due to issues, the owner called me and asked me to complete the brown coat. As I have explained how to brown out a home already, I thought I would explain the necessity of teamwork, it’s a real drag to try and do it all yourself. I know because I have done many by myself.
Family plastering business’s
Stucco advantages?
Stucco is extremely durable and will outlast Vinyl, wood and brick, which makes it a better alternative to all other sidings. Stucco is great for extreme temperature changes too, such as snow, rain and even blistering heat waves. Stucco is also fire, mold and mildew resistant. Stucco is maintenance free, (if it has a color coat).
Folks save on insulation and insurance cost too (R value, for insulation.)
Plus it never goes out of style, making stucco a great value for your investment over time.

    Hi Kirk,
After finishing my stucco project, I washed the tools with my bare hands.  One day later, my finger skins have started to crack and became rough.  I know that they will go away with time.  Is there a way to get rid of it faster?

Morning Keith, for this reason alone I always were gloves as what you are saying I had happen many times. Use a good hand lotion, it will eventually clear up.

Hi kirk… im from germany and i have some questions…. why are you using zement plastering ? In germany is only lime-zement (2:1:9) plastering. … in germany works plastering only with a maschine's and push it on the wall
.. is in amerca maybe another plastering system ??

Good evening Zipfe dude, here we also have pumps, but I prefer to apply by hand as I don't need a minimum of 10 guys.
In the UK you guys use much more lime in your cement plaster than the portland cement plaster which is used here in the U.S. this is why your buildings tend to last thousands of years instead of hundreds, but this is another story.

Kirk Giordano plastering Inc. Thanks form your answer, i'm very happy… yes, we have in germany also Portland zement..but i never see your system in germany, but i think it is very interessting …but we learned at school, that zement is not good for your water and air zirculation (sry, i don't know the right Word's)… thats because why we use only in the cellar portland zement plaster..

Good evening Zipfe, yes you are right there are many different systems to be applied here in the U.S. it's mostly portland cement plaster as it dries fast and most folks here will trade speed of dry time for longevity of mostly lime plasters

Hi Kirk. Thanks for the videos. Can you tell me if there will be problems if the brown coat isn't completed in one application. (Ran out of cement before wall could be finished and forced to wait a couple days to finish). Thanks.

Morning cruiser dude, It's not a problem for us as sometimes we also run out of mud, the key is deciding where to stop when you realize, dang, I don't have enough mud to finish this wall, you don't want to stop short in the front of the house on the middle of a wall as this could cause a cold joint. That means when you apply a cementitious finish this joint can bleed or ghost through and be noticeable with color and texture. However, if a person is going to paint then it's no big deal. Always try and plaster from corner to corner whenever possible. Live long, and plaster Plastering tips and techniques
