Santa Barbara Smooth stucco. Just a sample finish! (SBMF)
Please click on -https://youtu.be/DiL91N4HrVg to view a real sbsmf with simple instructions not just a sample like this video.

Howdy guys and gals, I get asked a lot of questions about smooth coat stucco. This video hopeful answers some of the questions. My main smooth coat stucco question is (can we apply a smooth stucco over a rough texture stucco)? Yes! but you have to skim it first. If you have a heavy texture there are other and less expensive ways to cover these heavy finishes. Send me a picture and I will give you options. (SBMF)

Hey Joe, you’re in luck, go to the web site mcrsafety it a dot com. Here is the info on them.
MCR Safety | Memphis Gloves | Supported/Dipped Gloves | Predalite, Item number 9780L This company sells about 300 different pairs so the item number helps.
My stucco supplier sells them for 6 dollars each but if I buy in bulk directly I can have them delivered for about 3 dollars a pair. I buy all my stucco supplies in bulk.
    Best wishes.

Hey Drew all stucco cracks, the question is the severity.
Santa Barbara Smooth Mission finishes have the least amount of aggregate (sand) so these unfortunately do tend to hairline crack more even if you apply two coats as this material is specked out for. Go to my main page and type in Santa Barbara Smooth Mission finish, this video should show its complete application when applied properly.
Best wishes, and have a good evening,

Happy Thanksgivingday steven robinson,  No, I have not used it before but it's between E-co stucco and Lahabra santa Barbara smooth mission finish, from what I have read it's really good stuff.
It's a cementitous renovation and thin wall render made of hydraulic lime cement with quartz sand  and minerals.
Let me know how it works as it sounds amazing.
      Best wishes and happyThanksgiving!

ok i've been watching you go at it and i guess a question you can answer would be that part of the wall on the side where Jay follows you and you have to skim coat it.. what sand type or ratio to get that smoothness before the double coat finish.. digging on your work and in Cali of all places. quoting you on this one. it's 101 and we're plastering here ..what more could you ask for?

Hi Bred, We didn't actually coat this home as the folks could not decide what system they wanted. A santa barbara smooth mission finish alone would not bridge these walls. It first needed a skim coat the question was  did he want to fiber mesh coat all the walls prior to a skim coat.

Hi Kirk, if I am patching in a replacement window with a scratch and brown coat, how should I finish the brown coat? Should I hard float it and ALSO hit it with a steel trowel to give the SMBF a smooth base? Thank you for all the great videos.

Hi Gil, I would use the hard rubber float first, you will end up with a light sand paper like finish, If you hit this coat with the trowel to make smooth chances are cracks will appear as now you are sealing this surface. It can't breath, but you can always come back with caulking. Best wishes,  Kirk giordano

Good afternoon King Dude, never heard the term "rag your brown coat"
We do sometimes apply the bonding agent such as Weld Crete kill the suction, if it's over 85 degrees.

Hey Kirk, I currently have a corse stucco on my house and I’m attempting to make it a SBMF. I been watching a bunch of your videos and they have been SUPER helpful. Just purchased a bunch of tools and I’m about to buy the material. I believe I need to pressure wash the house first, apply a bonding agent, then apply a base coat stucco (was thinking BMI 690?) then go ahead with the two coats of SBMF(LaHabra grey). Does this sound about right? Or am I missing a step? Didn’t want to go through all this work just for it to fall off a year later haha. Thanks Kirk!

Evening Justin, this method is sound, especially if you have a heavy existing texture or a pattern in the stucco, that needs filling in at more than a quarter to a half inch.
If your existing finish is not so heavy and borders on the medium existing finish, a heavy finish with a fine finish might work also as in the video below,
