Kirk, I really enjoyed watching this video. From what I hear this is the recoat method? You clean the surface and then color coat. Is that the same as "recoat?

Kirk, another question. I've read online of Paints made of Portland cement that come in powder form and you mix with water. What is your opinion on this method and when would it be advantageous to do this as opposed to the color coat? If this is a good option where can one purchase these type of paints? I can't seem to find any info on that. I hear you don't want to use regular paint since it won't let the stucco breathe.

Hey Joe, a re-coat or color coat are the same thing, just different names. One must pressure wash well a home first and if the house is painted apply a bonding agent before application of a new color coat finish can be applied.

Hey Joe, paints are not my specialty. Sorry bro.
However, my buddy Dave Ritter is an expert that just applied Rhino Shield to a big stucco home a few months back. Dave says it’s the best! I have heard that this new paint with Portland added was to be of an excellent nature.
You can on online to Google and spend hours researching or e-mail my buddy Dave at surfacerubato@juno.com and simply ask him.

Kirk, again watching this video and wanted to ask you. How can I tell if my finish has the color in the last coat or if if they painted on top of the coat? Is there arny sureway method to determine that? thanksss, Joe

Hey Joe, yes, there is a way. If it’s a cementitious finish it will darken when it’s wet. Spit on your finger and touch the wall if it darkens it’s cementitious. Or if that way grosses you out use a water hose.
I have so much time in I can look at a wall and tell.
Best wishes and have a great memorial day!

Hi Kirk, if the original color coat is flaking and coming off fairly bad, can all that be removed and what's the best way, before doing patches and prep and then putting new color coat. Thanks Maggie

Howdy Maggie, I would suggest scraping then follow up with pressure washing, this will remove the loose stuff, now you have to blend it back together.
      Cheers, live long and plaster

Thank you Kirk, I need to examine and make sure the stucco thats peeling off has NOT been painted, if it has…. I have saved one if your videos that I think addresses this and correct me if I'm wrong, the peeling will still havd to be scraped until no more comes off then scor edges and apply a bonding agent after you pressure wash?…..

Kirk, also there will be a total color change to the building. Im getting this information from you,

the PRO, to show my son that owns the building and has hired (no contract) a Father and two son team to do the job (correction PENDING on the whole job) trying to be diplomatic as well as giving him information that he has asked me to do for him. I have consulted you in the past when my husband and myself had to do some repair work on a house that had some stucco that someone had painted and was failing.
Your videos and advice helped tremendously and the repairs came out wonderful.

Hi thanks for the videos. I have a question. Can you tell me what product I should use for a job similar to your job in this video? Btw! Job is in Mojave desert ,so very hot, lots of wind and earthquakes. (I dont know if that makes a difference.
