Hello guys and gals, who are interested in learning how to DIY, do it yourself lath and apply both coats of plaster properly, now by simply watching and paying a tiny bit of attention you can and will save cash, create a sense of euphoria and sleep well knowing, no problemo, I did this repair myself.

Old Kirk says, material knowledge is 70% of being a well rounded plasterer, takes a bout 10 to 14 years to be well rounded with extended know how.
The other 30% is application, this take about 10 years on average. I have over 30,so I can do this stuff very effectively as it’s easy with time in.

Awesome…I have done EFIS, but never wire. I find it interesting on the fact that there is a "direction" when installing wire, similar to installing metal lath.

I must also say that I admire you and working with your son the way you do. I knew a family stucco company in Denver, CO (father and two sons) and it was nothing like the relationship you have with your son. Everyday was yelling at the sons, even though they were doing it for 20+ years. Sons left the company and started their own business.

@dpolacek Wow, that's that sounds like a terrible situation. My family and I have a wonderful relationship. We try and keep it win, win even when we are tired and have issues with the equipment, materials and weather. When we are tired and make mistakes we (try) to learn from them.
Very little get accomplished if there is a judge and jury on the job. Best wishes,

@edmondmansourian Thank you. Jason Giordano, video's our work as he is great with computers. Whenever someone hires me for stucco work we just explain online, how we do it. The videos hopefully show future clients that I have been in the stucco business for a long time and maintain integrity in our work ethics. Often most folks have never seen any of our plastering work online and are naturally unsure if I know what I am doing.
    Have a groovy day!

Hi Frusfromus, Thank you. My son Jason works with me and enjoys the technical stuff like cameras and computers, but is also a licensed stucco contractor with projects of his own. My other son Dan fortunately has some serious camera equipment and is also good at the tech stuff so hopefully he will be able to continue videoing our work.
Best wishes and have a groovy day!

Do you need to staple the lath to the window flange? Is it difficult to get a clean edge touching the window frame?

Evening Key Lime Lemon 4 U dude, yes, my gun shoots through the flange, can't be avoided most of the time anyways. Clean edge next to the window? No, it's easy peasy lemon squeezie.Old Kirk says, material knowledge is 70% of being a well rounded plasterer, takes about 10 to 14 years to be well rounded with extended know how.The other 30% is application, this take about 10 years on average. I have over 30,so I can do this stuff very effectively as it's easy with time in.
