Hey there guys and gals, in this video I will show how I repair the plaster inside of this home. There is a wall area and ceiling hole which both must be prepared properly before the plaster is applied.

Hi, unfortunately sometimes we forget to film each step, or our camera dies, or due to some other reason we don't have footage of something. Do you have a specific question about the application process? Thank you for your comment.

Could have been so good….didn't learn anything as you didn't show any of the actual processes, just the end results! Shame!

Hi Splitney, Hate to say it but your right, we have looked for the lost application out of the hundreds of videos and can't find this 10 second segment. Sorry. However copy and paste the one below it has more than enough details of plastering.

PLASTERING. How to remove and replace plaster on walls or ceilings.

I know these videos are not easy to do and that they take plenty of organisation and planning but….go on….make another one showing all the bits we want to see and learn from. You are easy on the eye and have a good clear voice so go for it!

the reason that wall failed is because the laths are too close together and plastering on laths should be 3 coat 1 pricking up coat 2 float coat 3 finish coat

Hey Terry, the wood lath on these walls looks proper to me.
When I was union plasterer, over 20 years ago the company I worked for did plastering in schools, hospitals or commercial projects we sometimes did 3 coats, sometimes 2. I can with today’s new materials do 1 if I choose to.
The rules have changed. But the same basic common sense still applies.
Thanks for your tip and have a great day!

the gaps should be 8mm otherwise the keying will be too thin between the laths and wont be strong enough, and even if you use so called one coat plaster you should still build it up in layers otherwise it will crack, cheers and happy plastering

Hey Terry, you may be right, I have never measured the gaps on these redwood lath strips.
I think if I were to install them I would eyeball them to about what I think would be fine.
Sometimes I layer on one coat after another when necessary, too. Have a great day!

Since the ceiling has loose spots that will be left, is this not the perfect location for a Big Walley kind of glue reinforcement?

Big Brycenesbitt, sorry but I haven’t used big Walley before.
The wood keys and the bonding agent were all that were necessary to make this plaster repair possible.
Best wishes, and have a groovy evening,
